Hey Everyone, Hows it going?! Im looking to lower a black '07 Grand Cherokee SRT8. I am waiting for it to be shipped to me and I was curious if anyone new of any kind of lowering kits made especially for the SRT8, or what would be the safest and most secure way of lowering my truck?! Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
There are no kits at this point. You have two options. One involves cutting springs, and one involves bags :)
I had some renderings done when I was deciding on wheels, and had them done with a bagged stance. It'll give you an idea.
If this thing didn't have so much darn torque, I'd have mine bagged already. It can be done, still...... I just have kinda been advised against bagging on this go-round, by my suspension guru.

Nice rendering! Get that framed.
When I get mine I want to lower just the rear, about 1.5", hopefully with a little softer spring. It would be nice to have some options available that do not involve modifying stock parts.

I just love this place!!!
I am a bag veteran...I have bagged a ton of vehicles including 2 of my own. The first one was my first time bagging and I dragged through quite a few things in the Jimmy. My second ride that I bagged was done in a more mature manor. I didnt want it to lay completely out because I bought it brand new. To bad it was stolen because I hand fabricated the entire thing. I had just purchased a ton of equipment to continue bagging faster.(plasma cutter, etc)
I really dont think bagging an AWD vehicle is good for it. Too many things could and most likely will go wrong. Especially with that much power.
I would only feel comfortable bagging the rear. But that would defeat the whole purpose.
Now if you were lifting it, thats a whole different ballgame...Actually that IMO would be pretty cool. A lifted and wicked fast lifted GCSRT8
I would personally go the route of dropping it at the most 1.5 inches.
Just enough to close that gap at the wheels.
Im working on a 62' Impala street rod with a 454. It looks very very mean when its dropped to the ground. Ill post finished pics when my buddy gets the car back with the engine finished.

i'd certainly be willing to sacrifice some ground clearance for a lower stance...somebody make a kit for it already!
Not sure why he told me he didn't think I should bag it. But I trust him 100% with anything that has to do with suspension. Shoot, ART refers to him for advice and design work on a lot of their stuff, so I believe he's gotta be fairly knowledgable. I definitely am not saying it couldn't or shouldn't be done, but for some reason he recommended that I don't do it in this vehicle. It easily could have been a gut feeling for him. Maybe something about my individual driving style or something? I truly don't know. But I do know it'd look SICK!

Didn't you just start a thread about how concerned you were about potholes and potential damage to your vehicle?

Yeah but only in terms of bent rims/suspension issues, as there isnt really any problem scraping or bottoming out. i would only like to go a little lower anyways, not slam it down. but only if someone made a kit for it, i dont wanna mess with the stock stuff
