Is anyone here from Toledo, OH?

The reason I ask is that I have seen a couple of Silver SRT8's around town.:)

I am currently contemplating a fully-loaded (no block heater) 2009 Modern Blue. I am having a hard time justifying the cost of this $50,xxx rig for a couple of reasons and am looking for some assistance.

I have read the thread about snow driving (since this will be my DD) and I am still unsure if the SRT8 will be sufficient. I had a fully loaded '05 WK with Hemi that I got rid of almost one year ago and I miss it greatly. I currently drive a 2008 Charger w/ R&T, which I have stuck in my drive way a few times.
I also have a '99 WS6 in the garage for speed (Owned since college), but my wife will not let me put a car seat in it, therefore I only drove it 150 miles last year.

I know the Jeep is faster and probably stops better than my current R&T, my WS6, or my previous WK, but it is worth the cost? I can buy the '09 SRT for $37,xxx and get 0% for 48 months.

For those who have driven all of these (I have not found an SRT to drive), is the SRT that much faster than my R&T Charger or my '99 WS6?

I can afford the Jeep, but I am still having a hard time justifing the price. I have also contemplated buying another WK, I found a used Limited '08 w/ Hemi for $24,xxx and it had under 15,000 miles. If I buy the used Limited, I will probably buy a Charger SRT8 next. But, why have two cars when 1 will do the job.

the Jeep will beat them both. It does fine in the snow with the stockers BUT if you really want to move thru the snow then get a set of 18's w snow tires(as some members have done). I do just fine in the snow-just have to adjust your driving style a little. Haven't got stuck yet. hope this helps....and yes we have gotten our fair share of snow this winter-close to 60 inches already :(

I'm over in Windsor so we have similar weather. This year has been by far, worse than normal. I find nothing wrong with driving it in the snow. I had a Rubicon and a Powerwagan and I know what they can plow through.

Go fo it. You won't be disapointed.

Do you keep the the Diablo tune in the truck during the winter or go back to stock tune?

thanks

I run my CMR tune year round-the reduced torque management makes driving more predictable and fun....:D

Ok good to know. I just installed the canned 93 octane tune today and could really feel the difference. It made we think of the winter driving question. I assume it will get even better with the install of the CAI and 93 with CAI tune.
I also assume the predator does something with the ESP draw it down a bit.

Thanks

Diablo stays in. No CMR yet. Been trying to get in touch with B&G in Detroit for over a week now but no answer from e-mail.

My jeep is my DD also. We get plenty of snow where I live. I do have a set of 18" winter wheels/tires on it.

Just yesterday morning I woke up to 7" of fresh snow on the ground. The streets weren't plowed yet and I didn't have an issue making it to work on time. Just have to be easy on the gas pedal when pulling out from a stop.

I also run my CMR tune all winter long.

Go for it. You won't regret it :D

The SRT8 GC is perfect for a guy like you...can't justify having two cars but still has the speed bug.

I will still have two cars if I buy the jeep, I plan to keep the WS6. It has only 15,xxx miles on it. Not too many last generation F-body's with this low of miles and in near perfect condition around anymore.

I think you are right the Jeep is right for me. Otherwise my new house would need a 4 car garage instead of a 3 and not too many houses are built with 4 car garages (At least not in my price range).

Oh well then it's easy, get the Jeep...it can be tame or wild, that's what I like about it. The power is very linear. My '03 Cobra is violently fast, there's nothing refined about it. That's why I have both.

I DD in Chicago, haven't had a problem yet. Besides keeping it clean!

Sure you can buy a beater for the winter, but I enjoy my headed suede seats, remote start, and 400+hp powerslides!

good point-my buddy has an 02' Z28 with just under 16K on it. His is also in great condition. He is not getting rid of it either. NOW go get that damn SRT8 will ya ;)
