: Flash or not?

After some extensive lonely road testing of the transmission characteristics at WOT today, i have seen no evidence of any hesitation, no kickdown issues from 20-35 mph, or shifting before redline. I'm hoping the problems I am hearing about won't just pop up out of nowhere down the road, so should I get the 07 flash when it comes out just in case? forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, im a total noob right now. thanks

I had the flash done this morning and I notice a nice improvement in shift smoothness. The hesitation would only happen ocassionally, usually at the worst time. I think the best part about the flash is the updated auto-stick, now it will upshift automatically in manual mode at redline. IMHO well worth the 30 min wait.

in my 07 it shifts on its own at redline even in autostick. i honestly have no complaints about the transmission from what i tried today, multiple WOT runs from 20-35 mph, kicked down just fine. I honestly dont see how it could shift any better, but if theres a chance a problem is going to come up down the line i would rather go ahead and get the flash to be on the safe side. would my dealer have a flash for the 07's, i dont know if its out or not

thanks

The flash for the 07's is not out yet, when it does come out I'm sure there will be lots of threads on it. Also, I heard if you drive using auto-stick alot, the car will adapt to your driving style in automatic (D) mode.

i have an 07 and the majority of the time like 85% it will kickdown but the others it wont, i think its around 2000rpm and 20-30mph where if you nail it it wont kick down but just sloowwwly move along....of course this happened to me with a tbss right behind me and i got p'd because the car wouldnt kickdown and he kept up with me untill the stop sign. So basically you proballly wont notice it untill you really need it.

I have an 07 also, and I agree, its not consistent. I can only count a handful of times where it seemed bogged down when hitting the throttle at 20-30 mph. Its funny, when you try to reproduce the problem, it doesn't show up. I'll wait for the official release of the 07 TSB before considering the flash.

timster,

Same for me. at 30, it seems ok. will try 20 mph and report back.

Mine's an 07, build date either Aug or Sept.

In drive and below 20, it will kick down to first. Above 20, it will only kick down to second.

what a difference a day makes. my car was doing pretty well with this issue up until today (9 days of ownership), but i had a whole series of disappointing punches this evening...slowly accelerating in the cruising gear with the throttle to the mat, the usual story. i love the srt8, but this is really disappointing from a 45k car thats barely a week old. :(

I'm going to take my car to the dealer tomorrow and insist that they fix this transmission problem ASAP. frankly i dont understand how the rest of you 07 owners can be so calm about this...i'm not about to get beaten by some riced out civic because my transmission doesnt feel like cooperating and the people who made it haven't put out a "flash" for it yet. how about making sure everything works before you sell it to people?

needed to vent that out...but seriously, either this gets fixed SOON or im gonna start looking for another performance vehicle that goes fast WHENEVER i tell it to

ok well today went better...had some really nice, smile-inducing punches. it sure is unpredictable with the 07's. i love this truck tho, so ill stick with it until i can get the inconsistency fixed. would it be a waste of time for me to leave it with my dealer next week to try and fix it? i doubt there's any sure-fire thing they can do...oh well, there's always autostick in the meantime lol

Hey, I ordered a 2007 Grnd Cherokee SRT8 and it is still at the manufacturer and I wont be able to pick it up for four more weeks. Is this a recent enough build date where I wont have to worry about the TCM, or should I have something done by the dealer the day I pick it up? I am new to this type of stuff, but I wanna make sure I take care of my new vehicle and have it run to the best of its ability! Please let me know what I should do? THanks a lot!

If you plan on a race at a 20 MPH roll best advice is to put it in autostick, in 1st. You will blow away a lot of ricer this way..:D

at what speed should i drop it into 2nd instead of first?

dirve your truck and figure it out. Put it in first and notice the speed which it approaches redline. Do the same for second
