Trying to pin down THE OPTIMUM gear ratios on the Jeeps like I did for the LX guys.

How fast are you turning the Hemi at the end of the 1/4 mile?
We are typically in 4th gear while our LX buddies are at the top of 3rd.

Obviously, this is very hp dependent....a stocker will only trap maybe 104 mph so he will be at a different rpm than a Winstonmobile.

Our goal should be like the LX I geared this week to trap at 6,600 rpm...PERFECT!

With 3.70/3.73's Im seeing 5700-5900RPMs in 4th. Thats a range of 126-130mph trap speed. I'm guessing a 3.93 gear set would land us in the traps at the top of 4th.

Honestly Bill the gears are horsepower dependant. The 4-5 shift occurs at roughly 142mph!!! Thats perfect for me becuase a mid 10-scond pass should trap around 137-140mph. I think you're going to have to match the gear ratio to how much power you are running, for 400whp 4.55s, for 500whp 4.10 gears might work, for 600whp, 3.73.

I am in 4th gear at about 110mph (not dashhawk#s). I shift to 4th at 100.

Thats why in a 450 rwhp LX car I have the 3.23:1 installed and the Speedfactory Charger I've got the 3.55:1 for theirs.

How about going DOWN in gears for the lower hp cars and holding 3rd????

I should be 110 - 115 mph. I shift into 4th at 100. Im guessing there really is no way to hold 3rd. 426 guys could 'maybe' get away with 3.55. Not sure what the options are below that - 3.23 or 3.3X?
