Hey guys and girls....
I have been drooling over the GC SRT for the past year and since my needs have changed I am thinking of dunking my current '05 Audi S4 and ordering a Silver SRT.
I've been reading quiet a lot on the forums and all of your info is top notch, i do have a few questions though...
1. I know that this is not a true off-roader (not that is why i am looking at one) but can the SRT be taken on "slightly" off road- like say onto the beach for some fishing where you HAVE to have a 4x4 (Buggy permit).
The only problem that i could see there are the wheel tracks that bigger trucks make in the sand...i guess they could be too deep for the front air damn, but i could always start my own path...
Can you hop an occasional curb without a problem? I know the sidewall is small, but i'm more concerned about the ground clearance.
Does anyone have personal experiences with issues like these?
Also, how are the creaks and rattles on this vehicle?
is it 50-50?
Finally, is the NAV worth it? i need ipod and XM radio, so I would rather purchase a Pioneer Z1 unit...
All your help is appreaciated.
Awesome forum!!!:D

First: WELCOME!
Secondly, to your questions:
1.) You must be careful when taking them off-road. You have about 6.5 inches of clearance with the front air dam. You will get "plowing" with snow and sand, if it is higher up than that obviously. I've seen pictures of members vehicles on beaches, but the sand looked pretty dense. I wouldn't risk taking it on the "fluffy" stuff.
2.) I would NEVER HOP A CURB in one of these. It makes me cringe to even think about it. The suspension is very tight and you would most likely damage the front fascia while attempting this. The fascia will strike a concrete parking lot barrier, those things that they often put on the tarmac, you know.
3.) The Nav is totally worth it! However, it lacks the wealth of features that the aftermarket units have. So that one is up to you.

1. Sure, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you mind the low front fascia ... i dont think itll be that big of a deal unless you hit some really deep ruts.
2. I go over curbs ALL the time ... you need to hit them at an angle to make sure you clear the fascia and of course at appropriate speed. You can't ram it up the curb.
3. Definitely get NAV, will hurt re-sale if you dont have it plus it'll help when youre at the beach and you need to know which way the water is, LOL.
