Hello I am picking up a leftover 2008 tomorrow. It was built 2/08. It had 130 miles on it until today.... when 450 more were put on it moving it to my selling dealer.
My question is does the oil need to be changed now? Reason I ask is I note Jeep says 6 months or xx miles?
Is the factory fill a special break-in oil?
I am thinking I will get the dealer to do it as part of the deal....If they balk should I do it myself ASAP?
Looking for opinions
Also any advice on what to look for on delivery?
Thanks
Mike

Change the oil and as a safety precaution, I would check trans, diff, and x-fer case fluids. Good Luck bro.

Its Mobil1. Nothing special. Just refill with Mobil1 or a full synthetic of your choice.

Definitely change the oil IMO.
Call me old-school but I don't care how great modern engines or oils are, any new motor should have the oil changed after the first ~500 miles to clear out all the break-in "junk." I did my first change at 800mi and second when it told me to at ~4000mi. Wouldn't hurt to do the diffs and/or t-case as well. Diffs are a piece of cake to do yourself if you have access to a floor jack and about 3' of rubber hose to put on the end of the bottle to squirt it in.

The reason I would is like others have stated to remove any metals from break in but don't believe the time aspect of an oil change. I have had both of my vehicles' oil anaylzed. The Jeep went a year and the Cobra seven. Here are the analysis below. Read the comments.
