Razorecko 01-28-2007, 04:17 PM Here are some pictures of recent interior upgrades I decided to do, just some pictures for those that were thinking of doing something similar.

MrHemi 01-28-2007, 04:18 PM I want one of those shift knobs!!!
Eh2BRUTEh 01-28-2007, 04:22 PM Wow that is an awesome shifter. Where can I get one of those? It looks great!
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 04:26 PM I want the lock pins, and since this is clearly a 2007, I have 3 questions:
1) where did you get them
2) how much were they
3) HOW DID YOU GET THE OLD ONES OFF??

AlexT 01-28-2007, 04:31 PM I love that billet knob too. Is that the ebay model for $125?
I'm still worried about 3/4 of a pound hanging on the end of the shift lever. I know that's a huge no-no on a manual tranny, I'm just looking for confirmation that it won't cause excessive wear to an auto tranny linkage. Once I confirm that, I'm pulling the trigger on one also.

Razorecko 01-28-2007, 04:32 PM The shift knob i got from this guy...

I took some nailpolish remover/acetone to remove the red from the 8 and dull up the color on the srt - it blends into the interior alot more now.
the pins i got from this guy...

Pins were a pain in the @ss by hand so i just took some pliers and you screw them off counterclockwise and just screw the new ones in.

I used to have a mr2 turbo w/ a manual tranny and that knob was almost just as heavy and if this knob does break something than obviously that part of the car was built like crap. Anyhow its not like you'll be shifting the car 24-7 like a manual trans anyhow. But the difference in feel is well worth it, doesnt feel like you have a chunk of cheap plastic in your hand.

Very true. It looks beautiful.
Wonder how it'll feel though after a hot 95 degree afternoon? I'll have to have a towel in the car. :)

LOL,,,well right now in chicago after a cold day its like gripping a piece of dry ice...thank god its not a manual knob in the case of hot/cold.
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 04:44 PM hopefully you don't like it too much and start making out with it then - you'll never peel your tongue off it!

Mango 01-28-2007, 05:15 PM Any chance you can get a picture with the door open, from the outside, of the interior. I'm just curious how the shift knob looks relative to the rest of the interior. I fear it's just too large and will look goofy and out of place.
Beltfed 01-28-2007, 05:18 PM The pins are a very nice small touch, don't think they'll get much better than that......its worth picking up a set.
Plastic pins are an eyesore.

phenwick 01-28-2007, 06:33 PM Check out http://www.billettechnology.com/, they have the knobs for the radios and climate control for the chargers and other LX cars. They are also doing 6.1 oil filler caps and I'm sure if there is interest they will do engine compartment dress ups for the GC. They do nice work. Some of the items already cross over to the GCSRT.

rutiger 01-28-2007, 07:32 PM mods look great. but i think ccbatson might disapprove because they might distract you from driving and therefore you'll be a danger to us all :D

Hey guys,I came over from the Charger forum.Just before I traded my Charger RT for this great SRT8 I had added these Aluminum covers to my radio and ac control and I know they are the same.

That looks great. Where did you get that from?
EDIT: Actually, I don't think that's the same in our Jeeps. AC vents are outside of the surround...
Alex
OBSRT8 01-28-2007, 09:43 PM Sure the vents are different, but the radio knobs and the AC knobs are the same.I ordered mine from UPRPRODUCTS.COM. I think that BILLETTECHNOLOGY.COM IS THE actual makers of the covers. If you go to there website and go to chrysler, dodge section you see that they fit most of there cars.Good Luck
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 09:46 PM I found myself as I was driving home tonight trying to figure out if I could take the clear plastic covers off my steering wheel and shift knob so I could replace the words "Jeep" with "SRT8".
Anyone care to try?

Ezogo 01-28-2007, 10:50 PM I agree, I think the steering wheel emblem would look much better if is said SRT-8
Sheri'SRT8 01-28-2007, 10:59 PM I have the same lock pins. They look EXCELLENT and should have been on the car to begin with. The stock pins are difficult to remove. I took an old T shirt and wrapped it around the old pin and gripped it with a Channel-Lock pliers to get it off. It took a considerable amount of effort to do so, but it was worth taking the time and effort to make the switch. Just take your time to prevent scratching any of the door panel or the new pins.
I got them from the same Ebay seller. Very quick turn around and quality at a very fair price.
I have the same mats as well. THE way to go in this vehicle. It just keeps everything much cleaner in the wet weather. I'll keep them in the car all year. I had them in our last SUV and they just kept the inside of the Jeep much nicer.
I don't know how much I like the shift knob. It is a total personal preference. Perhaps if it had more detail, or seemed less big, I'd go for it. I just need to give it more thought.
I like the pictures that you took. It really shows how all of these items add to the interior. Nice job.
Texas_A_M_Fan 01-29-2007, 07:58 AM I have the door pins off ebay as well. Nice product, but it is a ***** getting the old ones off!

I made sure that I had plenty of old t shirts, and taped them to the top of the door panel and door skin. You have to be careful.
Green Light 01-29-2007, 03:56 PM Thanks Razor, I just ordered those door lock pins. They do look great. I'm also looking into floor mats Catch all is in the running but I'm still doing research. Thanks for the post!
Beltfed 01-29-2007, 05:00 PM I paid $30 for the pins, then saw the same seller has them up for $20.
I'm not cheap, but that's annoying.
No different than flushing a $10 bill down the toilet.
esq76 01-29-2007, 05:03 PM how much of a pain in the ass is it to take off the old door pins???? i tried tonight and i keep twisting but its like they are screwed on to springs...if i keep twisting they are gonna snap!>!>!> DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS??? THANK YOU

Don't let it get to you. Price difference stems from the fact that billet ones are machined billet and that's it. $30 ones are same pins, but are sent out to be chromed and polished. So, if you prefer the chromed ones, $10 isn't bad. Chrome for me. Enjoy.

Oops I missed that, no big deal......either version would have been fine.
But glad the difference was for an additional service.:)
Thanks for pointing it out.

well it says to take the old ones off while they are still on the locked position - also it takes a while from them to come off they are on their very tight and the thread is long.
HoustonSRT-8 01-30-2007, 07:48 AM That shifter's gonna get hot in the summer!

good thing its not a stick :D
I love all 3 of these mods. Nicely done! I may look into that shifter, then have it anodized black.
Love the door pins!

Mango 02-01-2007, 03:08 PM Just installed the door pins. It's wild how such a small, simple mod can dress up the doors! They were tough to get off but well worth it. :)
OurZoo 02-01-2007, 03:47 PM Got mine in the mail yesterday. Hopefully I'll have time in the next couple of days to install. :)
Beltfed 02-01-2007, 04:36 PM Got mine today, very nice looking product......no chance to install them yet.
Mango 02-01-2007, 05:15 PM Be sure to wrap your pliers or whatever device you use to remove them in a protective barrier/cloth. It's very easy to scratch the plastic door trim when removing them.
Step 1:
Grasp factory door pin with pliers.
Step 2: Profit????
Step 3: Give one strong turn COUNTER-CLOCKWISE with said pliers.
Step 4: Continue making small turns counter-clockwise until door pin is off. This will take a minute or two.
:)
appayipyip, you switched from a new vette to a Viper? Sweeet. :)
Street WK 02-01-2007, 05:39 PM Whats the point in this mod if most people complain that the door pins stick up and pinch their arms?
Mango 02-01-2007, 05:50 PM appayipyip, you switched from a new vette to a Viper? Sweeet. :)
Yeah, after seeing the 2008 Viper and reading about it, I've canceled my order for the Z06.
Mopar has won me over! Plus, the Mopar/Viper crowd seems like a much more mature and respectable group of people. These days, the Corvette clubs are filled with 50 something "mid life crisis" folk who think they are greater than god. They trailer their cars from show to show and are too busy to talk to anyone.
We still drive our 67' Vette to every show, regardless of the fact that it's valued at well over $180,000. :D :D
Squilly D 02-01-2007, 06:55 PM I got my door knobs in the mail today and installed them this afternoon. Installation was easy - just used some masking tape and vice grips to remove the old pins. They look great. I also ordered the shift knob but will not get it until late next week. Appearantly the guy selling them on ebay had a bunch of people purchase them over the past couple of days. I'm guessing several of us purchased it at the same time.
kramsay1234 02-01-2007, 09:42 PM Are people going chrome or billet on the door pins?

i odered the chrome 3 days ago and yet to get them but they do look nice in the pics i have seen

I ordered the satin finish. The do have the cutout,so that at night they look like they should with the light coming thru.To install all you have to do is apply some silicone adhesive in the shell and slide it on.

I did! I asked him to get it chromed also ($30), and no paint in the engraving. I hope the finish lasts awhile. Anybody know how chrome plating works. I'd guess that if the material was ferrous it would be some magnetic process, but with aluminum that would be hard. Is it like a shell over the metal and once it flakes it goes fast?
