: Power folding mirrors
AlexT 01-28-2007, 03:14 PM So has anyone looked into installing the power folding mirror from the Overland onto an SRT8?
I'm getting tired of getting out of the car to fold or unfold the pax side mirror everytime I pull into or out of the garage. It doesn't seem to be that big a deal to do if the mirrors and switch aren't too expensive. Hell, I probably only need to do the passenger side.
If no one else has done it yet, I may need to be a guinea pig...

kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 03:34 PM Isn't this an option on the Euro models? Maybe there are parts you can order from our friends overseas?

Yeah, it's an option on the Euro, but it's standard on the Overland. Assuming they use the same mirror, it should be easy to get that one...
Alex
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 03:38 PM Well thats even better. If it turns out to be reasonable, this is something I would want as well.

ResumeSpeed 01-28-2007, 05:36 PM The Overland mirrors on the North American models will retrofit to the SRT8, they are a bit pricey though if you have to buy them new from the dealer. You need the mirrors, window switch and then run 2 wires from passenger door to driver door mirror connectors.

Any broad idea how much for the mirror? I'll probably just to the pax side.
Alex
dbrisson 01-28-2007, 05:54 PM That would be sweet if we could get part numbers. Did not know the overland had that capability. That is one thing I really miss from my Escalade was the ability to fold in the mirrors with the button on the door.
It was also great if you just got someone from the dig, fold them in and out like wagging your ears. The Esky was a modified 6.0l AWD so it had some go, but not as much as the SRT8...
SRedrockT8 01-28-2007, 06:35 PM thats a narrow garage. won't it fit in just folding the drivers mirror?
AlexT 01-28-2007, 07:02 PM thats a narrow garage. won't it fit in just folding the drivers mirror?
I like to get as far over to the right as possible so I can get out easily, so it's best to fold the pax mirror. I have a large shelving unit on the driver side of the garage. It's a 2 car garage, but I have a car and a half's worth of crap on the other side...
Alex
OurZoo 01-28-2007, 07:43 PM Damn you guys for coming up with more great ideas!
Sheri'SRT8 01-28-2007, 09:23 PM I believe that it would take someone to take apart the Overland mirrors to get them to fit inside the SRT8 mirror assembly. All Overland Mirrors have the platinum finish.
I guess it's time to start looking for those wrecked Overlands....

I think the '07 Overlands went to body colored mirrors. I hate to wish bad things for those new black clear coat Overland owners, but.....

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to get rid of the junk?

The '07 Overland mirrors are available in these "SRT" colors: Black, Silver, Steel Blue and Red Rock. Inferno Red owners are out of luck. However, it appears that Jeep has discontinued the power-fold mirrors for the rest of the 2007 model year, not sure if all colors will be available via parts, working with WKJeeps.com to figure this all out.
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 10:01 PM I was thinking of suggesting that, but I myself have many tight parking garage reasons to want this mod to be a success.
Alex - it would be cheaper to paint the Overland mirrors than hope for a 2007 wreck. Are the actual mirrors the same size/style? I don't see anything in any of the pictures I have looked at to lead me to believe they are different.

Standard on UK models.
NitroCrzy 01-29-2007, 09:25 AM They are standard on all export models.... :D
Quite handy... I use mine when parking the rig for any time and squeezing into the garage.
AlexT 01-29-2007, 09:37 AM Just got off the phone with my parts department.
If I want to do this new, it's going to cost about $618 for the mirrors and switch parts. And the parts department can't tell me how they come in, Ready for Paint or not. They did say that the part number for the Overland mirror is unchanged from 06 to 07, but there is only 1 part number for each mirror, so choosing body colored pre-painted doesn't appear to be an option.
Here are the part numbers:
RH mirror: 1BU161XFAA $255.96
LH mirror: 1BU171XFAA $362.10
Didn't get the switch part number, but it was less than $10.
So used certainly looks like the way to go, especially if I have to pay to also paint these. I'm just not sure how much luck I'll have finding them used....
Or my other initial thought, was to do the right hand side only. I'm assuming that would work, although it's curious that the LH side costs over $100 more.

I believe the left hand side is more due to the autodimming feature to the glass...At least it's a good guess.

Drivers side is heated and auto dimming. Absoulutely why is more expensive. But thats not too bad a price for brand new.
If I come across 2 wrecked overlands (one for me and one for you) I will let you know...:)

And you know what, I'd prolly pull the trigger if I had any idea what color they were coming in. But the parts guys say they can't tell, and it's a special order so whatever it is they're mine...

Thanks,

JeepSRT 01-29-2007, 03:49 PM You would think that since our SRT8's are the most expensive and most exclusive of the Jeep line-up that they would have put them on. I guess it's the corporate bean counters that took it away.

I have those two numbers in stock, also our price is a little better.
