On my 07 gcsrt8 with the rear enterainment I bring in xm via the external rca connectors. If the little one is watching a movie I just use the rf modeulator. I prefer the rca in since its a cleaner input. This way I have 1 year free of sirius, my current xm ski fi which i switch between cars and boat.

dbrisson - I didn't fully understand what you wrote.

I have the same question. My understanding (I could be wrong) is free one year Sirius in the States for SRT8 buyers, but we don't get that in Canada. I believe the functionality is built into our Nav headunits, but how can we subscribe to receive this and are we also entitled to one year free?

I do not think chrysler has a deal with XM, only sirius

With the basic nav unit you have sirius for one year. I also have the rear entertainment center. It has 3 rca connectors for input yellow (vid) red and white (audio), ie for gamebox, other video etc.

I like some XM content and have a sky fi that I move around between an older 911, and a boat and now the srt8.

I put my xm unit up at the very from of the console and wired the output through the console to the rca connectors. When the xm unit is on the VES option accessed by the mode button plays the xm radio through the radio. It is a cleaner input then using the fm modulator with XM units.

The VES unit is second inline to the rca, so if a disk is in the dvd and playing on the rear screen, and an input is sensed at the rca jacks the video and audio is muted and the rca input wins.

So if the little onbe is watching the cars movie, but I want some OPie and Anthony, if I turn onthe xm unit it goes straight to the headphones and blanks the screen, so then I just use the fm modulator on the XM unit.

Essential this give you 3 inputs to the radio, sat,VES, external

There is a peripheral unit that will allow and xm unit to be wired to the back of the radio but you have to give up either the sirius input of the ves.

I am not ready to do that just yet as some of the sirius content is growing on me. I wish the 2 companies would just face it and join together all of the content.

here is the peripheral link

Do any of the Canadian owners out there know if we have access to this Sirius for 1 year?

I am also wondering what is up with the Canadians not getting the Sirius option. I had thought I was getting it when I ordered mine. The dealer told me it was not available when I finally received it.

I called a local dealer the other day to see if I could order the Sirius receiver and antenna. No deal as their computer listing shows they can't order these for the Grand Cherokee.

I believe other Chrysler vehicles have this option with the same radio (REC Nav unit).

Anyone know what is up?

Have any Canadians ordered one from the US and installed/activated it without any issues?

Someone must have tried this.

Cheers

Thanks nticer5,

I don't have an address in the states. Is it possible to activate these through Sirius Canada?

I also read somewhere that you may have to use a starscan tool to program it. Did you have to do this with yours?

I am Canadian and own a Grand Cherokee SRT8 2007 delivered to me in March and has my name on the build sheet. It was to come in with every option offered including sat sirius radio. When i picked it up there was no sat radio installed. My dealer called Chrysler and said i should have it and they ordered the sat radio under warranty i guess. They installed the sat option and all i had to do is call the 1-800 # and subscribe to Canadian Sirius. I did and received a 1 year subscription for free. There is only a few differences in the Canadian Sirius vs. the US.
