Hi All,

I am a new member and I just picked up an '07 GC SRT8 today. The car is black with all options except rear DVD and so far I love it. The car I traded in was an '03 Z06 (fantastic car but my needs are changing).

I'm looking forward to learning more about this awesome vehicle so I'll apologize in advance for what I would expect to be a steady stream of questions.

One important question I would like to ask is suggested break in routine. The manual doesn't give too many specifics beyond taking it easy for the first 300 miles or so.

Any, thanks for having me.

Normally on new cars you should take it easy and keep it at around 4000rpm max and under 70mph for the first 500-1000 miles

Congrats on your purchase, you won't be disappointed. Lots of opinions on break-in procedures but it's definitely important to be reasonable for the first few hundred miles. What many don't realize is that it's not only the engine you are breaking in, but other components like the differentials. Definitely avoid WOT from a standing start for the first few hundred miles.

se7en,
Great purchase! I also have a black '07 GC SRT8. You will love this forum as it is very informative.

On break in, I did alot of full throttle kickdowns, but never from a stand still until about 1000 miles. Enjoy the Hemi!

I believe the owners manual says no WOT for the first 300 miles. After that, it should be good to GO, unless your philosphy is different (i.e. more aggressive) than manuafacturers recommedations.

Thanks for input and the warm welcome folks!

The 300mi issue should be resolved today no problem :D I'll be taking it pretty easy until then. I'll probably not do any WOT from a stop until closer to the 800-1k mark to ensure that the driveline has had its turn as well.

I got to tell you, I never thought I'd ever be this excited about an SUV!

Question 2: How many miles of typical aggressive driving (not 1/4) do you get out of these tires? Also are there any good non-runflat/stickier tires available that will fit on the OEM wheels?

Thanks again!
