I debadged today and after popping off the 8 letters, my son started to freak when I told him I was removing the SRT8 badge.

So, out of respect for my 17 year old, I left it on while I checked some other's opinions. For those of you that have debadged, did you go all the way?

I have not debadged anything yet. Still considering the Jeep badges but would never remove the SRT8 badge. Your son is the man!

AlexT

Well, for me the purpose of debadging is that people that know will know. And people that don't know will never know, even if the badge is there. So I planned on taking everything off.

But if it's a man law....

:D

I took of the Jeep emblems front and rear and I added an SRT8 badge to the interior just above the glove box. Personally, I like the SRT8 on the exterior.

Your son is right.I removed the Jeep badges front and rear. But no way the SRT8 badge. In the 3 weeks I have owned my GC I have had 3 or 4 people ask me what kind of truck I was driving.I love it.

I've always been in the minority on this one. I removed ALL, yes including the SRT badge, right away. I dont' like badges at all. Most people here believe that the SRT badge is a badge of honor. I believe the car speaks for itself and doesn't need any badging. I like the clean look all over. It's just a personal choice. Like I said, I'm in the minority on this one.... and I'm cool with it.

If it'll please your boys, stick with it. You already know, pleasing your children isn't always easy, and if leaving a silly badge on a car does it..... don't mess :)

For me, debadging was for a) the clean look and b) to keep people guessing as to what brand of truck it was.

Since most don't know what "brand" SRT8 is, I left that badge on. I have seen it both ways and respect both, but for me the SRT8 badge is cool and elite enough not to interfere with the mystery. Just MHO.

I debaged all Jeep and rebaged SRT8. One on the hood, two on the side fronts, and two on the door trim (rm360). Oh, and one on the shift knob. People don't know what an SRT8 is but they sure notice the beast.

Pulled all that Jeep stuff off but left the SRT on. Replaced the side trims that said Grand Cherokee with trim from RM360 that I powder coated black and lettered in the SRT 8. We pulled up to another black '07 SRT8 last evening in Charlotte and my wife even commented (looks like hell) on his Jeep emblems.

Left everything on - looks like I'm the only one? I want the unfortunate souls during those short light to light dashes to know a Jeep, yes a Jeep took their mojo. Maybe with time I'll have an issue with the Jeep logo but it is what it is. Only mod so far is Mopar CAI, the trans flash and billet antenna. Maybe if a reliable supercharger kit emerges and I install headers and a cat back I won't be able to stomach the Jeep logos but so far my Jeep is pretty stock so I'll stick with stock badging.

I have to agree with our Canadian brother, I too left them all on. The "I was stomped by a %@*& JEEP!!???!!!" factor is just too much fun. Also, since I live 2 miles from the Barrett-Jackson Annual Circus, I learned that in 2037 my bone-stock STR8 GC 6.1 HEMI will net my heirs $2.3M!:D

Eh2BRUTEh
01-28-2007, 08:42 AM
I'm thinking DriHeat is onto something too so I kept the original Marquis De Sade antenna and the stock CAI so my grandchildren can pry the beast from the old fools gnarled fingers and sell it at Barrett with all the original parts.

manlaw #666....."when debadging the jeep srt8 it is required to leave the rear srt8 badge on so the other lane trailer doesn't have to say WTF is that?

manlaw #666.1 when debadging the jeep all may be removed including the rear srt8 badge if it improves your manhood and eliminates the reasons for prescription help.

This is my first post. And as you can see, I am coming from the suby community. We are either all about flash (wings, loud exhaust, big gold wheels) or surpreme sleepers. I am about to lose my very quick WRX to get an SRT and debadge it totally. I think you should make it sleeper.

I debadged (left the SRT) last weekend and am very happy.

Just looks cleaner. To be honest I'm trying to think of another manufacture who spells out their entire name on the hood of their vehicle in big chrome letters. Most use an emblem or something but spell the whole thing out? On the rear is another deal (it actually says "toyota", etc.).

I was hesitant about debadging mine but figured if I did not like it I could always by the emblems and reinstall them. After removing them I am glad I did. Much cleaner look without the big shiny Jeep logo.

Also scared of scratching it while removing the badges.

I prefer when people preface such broad statements with "in my opinion".
You know nothing of his situation. I bought mine, and have bought my last several cars, but my folks bought me my first 3 or 4 cars. I can state truthfully, that I did, in fact appreciate each of those vehicles as much, OR MORE, than the ones I have bought for myself. Just how you look at it, I guess. I just really don't like it when folks made such broad generalizations.

I do agree that, as a parent, teaching your children the value of a dollar is hugely important, no doubt about it. BUT...... if you do teach them that, then there is no doubt they would truly appreciate a gift of that kind of magnitude.

Sorry bout the broad statement, i dont dont want to discredit you, but that is just my feeling. I saved my ass off for my first car, a 1987 AMC Jeep Pioneer w/ 4 cylinder. I started working when I was 14 being a laborer in a furniture factory. I saved 6k in two years. Bought the jeep for 2k and saved 4. I continued working, 1 year later I had my total saved amount to 8k. I sold the jeep (after restoring the motor and interior) for 4k. That gave me 12k to buy my next car, I was 4 thousand short, so I was going to wait, but my parents repected my hard work and stepped in. I bought a low mile 98 gti VR6. Kept it beautiful, and in 2002, I bought a 02 WRX. I have been in the positive in all my vehicles, and paid for all of them except the 4k my parents pitched in. I guess i am a little green w/ envy to those who have it handed to them, and normally those that do, take it for granted. If you dont, good for you. I have very supportive parents, as they have helped w/ a downpayment on my house, and supported many expensive hobbies, i just think when it comes to cars, enthusiasts will appreciate their vehicles more, when its coming outta their pocket. Just my opinion.

How do you remove the badges? I don't want to damage or scratch the truck. How about the side moldings that say SRT8. Someone said they were $400+. Where can I get them and Did you guys buy the SRT8 Badges from the dealer or another store? I am pretty sure they are $$$.

I feel that the debadgers are trying to hide the fact that its Jeep. The only reason I would debagde was it a.) the emblem looks like ass and was fading OR b.) I painted it and it didnt look good

To all the debadgers out there....live up to what you bought.

Its the same as the guy who buys the Mercedes S320 and debadges it b/c he has a 320 and not the 600

So far I have not done any badgine/debadging to the Jeep.

Thinking of doing the following:

1. Remove jeep from front nose to clean it up. (still debating)
2. Doing a s/s mesh insert for gille and lower air opening.
3. Install the SRT badge from Charger in lower opening.
4. Install 6.1 HEMI badges on front fenders
5. Install carbon fiber dash kit complete with SRT8 lettering above glove box.
6. Carbon fiber B pillars to match dash kit

Now if only my lottery numbers would come up, I could do this all and more.
