: Another Commander with SRT wheels
This time it's my wife's. I think it looks pretty cool for a big boxy thing (the commander, not the wife :) )

Shotsy 01-27-2007, 04:59 PM Looking good on both counts. Why does your GC look sooo low?
I'm assuming you think it looks low in the 2nd and 3rd pics. It's just that the camera was on the pavement, and the crown of the road makes it look low. The first picture shows how it really sits.
Shotsy 01-27-2007, 05:16 PM  Maybe I should pay a little more attention.
AlexT 01-27-2007, 05:27 PM Your wife's car looks awesome. But what does the badging on the grill say?
Reminds me of one of these:

HoustonSRT-8 01-27-2007, 05:29 PM Those wheels make the Commander look like a MB G-class.
The badge on the grill says LIMITED. We can't decide if we like it or not, but without that badge its just so big and plain. We're still weighing our options.
Goldengreek5 01-27-2007, 05:55 PM That grill looks nasty. I love the commander bro. I tried to convince my wife to get one, but she wanted a Murano:confused:
jlandbl 01-27-2007, 05:57 PM Awesome cars, awesome house. How do you like the Commander? Is it the 5.7? Is that grill aftermarket? Is it roomy for the kids? I've been trying to talk my wife into the Commander. She drives a 05 Quest and loves it. But it's like driving a wet noodle.
Black_SRT8 01-27-2007, 05:58 PM The wheels give the Commander a classy, European look. Have you thought about bigger tires?
MatFab 01-27-2007, 06:06 PM looks pimp but why not pics with the wife by her ride?
We are absolutely loving the Commander. She drove a little Lexus RX Easter egg looking thing for the last several years. I always like to drive, so whenever we drove anywhere as a family, we drove the SRT, because I couldn't stand driving her egg. Now that we got the Commander, the SRT is just for driving to work, and any trips I take on my own. The Commander drives so nice. Inside it's dash is almost identical to the SRT, so switching between the two is great. The suspension is very smooth, and the shifting is as well. It's the 5.7 and we're loving it. It's got good speed and power. It's surprisingly roomy inside, considering that it's about the same size as the SRT. It's wider, and the headroom makes it feel SO much bigger inside. The theater style seating is great for the kids, and it's a much easier vehicle to get in and out of, as the roofline is a bunch higher than the SRT.
And for the tires... we're still up in the air about wheels and tires. She really wants chrome, but I had the SRT wheels laying around, so we figured we'd see how she likes them. So far we like the look as is. And yes, the grill is aftermarket.
AlexT 01-27-2007, 06:23 PM My wife will be in the market for a new car at some point in the near future. What kind of gas mileage are you getting with it?
Our family fuel budget is blown with my new addition. :)
Alex
OurZoo 01-27-2007, 06:24 PM Both trucks look niice!
Honestly, I have no idea what kind of mileage we are getting in it. I'd imagine it's bad, but better than the SRT. I believe it has Jeeps deal where it shuts from 8 cylinders down to 4 when cruising at highway speeds (don't remember what they call it). I know she makes it a full week between fillups, because I fill it up every Saturday morning when I take my younger daughter for our weekly 'coffee stand' trip :)
Street WK 01-27-2007, 08:52 PM Very nice Greg, like I said over at SJ.net... One thing though, KEEP THE SRT8 wheels on there. The wheels really belong on it and the chrome grille with the Limited badging also fits nicely.
kramsay1234 01-27-2007, 09:05 PM Thats a nice stable. and the SRT rims look great on there. I have to admit of all the replacement wheels I have seen on the Jeep to date, yours are very highly rated. Also with the SRT wheels close by, the Jeep will still feel comfortable at night.
MatFab - in case you missed them, we have already seen pics of the wife - or maybe that's why you are asking for more. ;)

Behairy 01-28-2007, 05:30 PM Ge2, the wheels on your SRT-8 are unbelievable ... I'm absolutely speechless...
rutiger 01-28-2007, 07:44 PM i think the srt wheels look great on the commander. the skinny stockers just don't look good.
SRedrockT8 01-28-2007, 08:20 PM it appears that you also put bushwacker (or similar) flares on the commander. was this to compensate for the srt wheels sticking out? if so how is the coverage?
edit: oh, and they do look good on the comander. personally i love the srt wheels and haven't been jonesing for a replacement.
Nope-- those are stock flairs on the Limited Commander.
nacnac 02-01-2007, 03:12 PM The wheels look great but the grill looks ghetto.
I think a black grill would look better than the chrome one it came with.
OurZoo 02-01-2007, 03:57 PM I also use the term "ghetto" and IMO it's not ghetto at all. All it has is an aftermarket grille? Which BTW ge2, looks niice!
StageFright 02-01-2007, 11:00 PM LOL, the Commander looks better than the SRT.
LOL-- I kinda think it does too. I am loving the looks of the Commander.
And as for the grill..... I respect all opinions on it. I like the grill, but don't love it. It's way better than stock, in my opinion, but isn't my favorite. Problem is that the area is SO huge, and there aren't any options out there that I like better. Plus, it's the wife's car, and she digs the grill. She like's "shiney" LOL
NitroCrzy 02-02-2007, 07:58 AM ge2
Do you live in Sherwood?
Have to say I kind of like how that Commander looks....
:)
Nope-- I'm in the Seattle area.
Street WK 02-02-2007, 11:46 AM LOL, the Commander looks better than the SRT.
Blashphemy! :D
jlandbl 02-02-2007, 11:48 AM Hogwash!!!!
navyavi469 11-19-2007, 05:26 AM I just find it ironic the Jeep's bastard-child bolt pattern actually fit something else.
