Well after seeing the confirmed production design of the 2010/2011 SRT8s, although still i the dark about release date, it seems the new one will blow our current models out of the water. Now having never seen the exterior and interior of the next gens and only hearing about it, its a tough decision to make. So would you get an 08/09 SRT this summer or would you invest the money and try to grow it in hopes of getting a 2010/2011 sometime in the near future. I mean I love the style now and they are perfect in my eyes, but the new ones sound ridiculous.
Can anyone guess an MSRP on these things, and obviously they will depreciate eventually, but at some point a guy just cant wait that long or you'll never have one. You know, like you want this TV but there gonna make a nicer one in 6 months, at some point you just get screwed in a sense I guess haha, what's everyone think???

50's with a 2500-5000 markup.

here's the way i see it....get a used 08' with low miles...drive the hell out of it, get some mods and whatnot, then once the 2011's hit the lot got and trade up. ;) first years are soemtimes a risky gamble anywho, all the bugs and such not to mention hacking into the PCM will take some time. this way you can have one now and later. ;)

thanks for the info, pretty reasonable id say thanks to the economy haha, figured they'd be like 65 - 70k, not to bad.

With all the pressure to produce eco friendly fuel efficient dork mobiles that will runf for 7000 miles on one fart, and the future of the big three up in the air, I would grab one right now. I will be amazed if the SRT8/SRT10 models continue much longer, I fear that all we will have in the near future will be SRT4's and SRT6's at best. I am considering trading mine in now so I can have the newest version of what I think will be the last of these monsters. JMHO

Interesting thread... A concern I'd have is whether Chrysler will be here in 2010... Thoughts??

Get a slightly used one, mod the hell out of it and those 6.4L guys wont understand why they cant keep up with someone with a 6.1, I think It would be more fun and cheaper to get a used ride and do the mods you want and make it your own.

I love my 06. I wont trade up on a new one. the 06 was the original, looks the best I think, and I cant wait to start modding more

here's what i would do in your situation.

like veyron said, if i had the cash, i would go and get a used low mile '08 or '09 to enjoy for the time being, and then sell it, take the 5k or so hit and get the 2011.

if i didn't have cash on hand i think i would just wait for the 2011s, it's only 18 months, well worth the wait considering the long list of updates and new features.

You are right on the new/better every 6 months. Eventually you just have to buy and forget about it. I signed up for this site in Sep of 2006 and have wanted an SRT8 since I first saw the commercial with the painted birds. I finally fulfilled my dream last fall with a new '09. It wasn't cheap--and if I waited three more months I could have saved $2,000 or so. But I have no regrets. This ride is awesome as all of the main posters on here will attest. If you love the style of the WK, go for it now! 07, 08 or 09 whatever! They are all good. The only items I wish I had that are on that 2011 spec sheet are the heated sterering wheel, Elec LSD, and of course 6.4 (well, duh)! Wait to confirm the true styling and if you love it more than WK, then get the NEW NEW SRT8. Just an opinion. If money is the issue, buy used now like the guys said. Have your fun, less depreciation, then move on. I will own my Jeep for 5 years and wanted new and could just afford it at the time. I LOOOOVE the styling and won't have any envy on the next generation GC until one blows me away at a light.

Damn your not kidding sounds like the new SRT's are gonna have some amazing options. Sounds like a like of stuff from the Benz side of things.
As others said get yourself a nice 08/09 now then get a new one when they come out or wait for a slightly used 10/11.

Ye thanks for all the input guys, you defintley reinforced my original thoughts, I love the WK's, I dont see how they could make it look better in my eyes, Im just gonna be jealous of the 6.4L, the LSD, and osme other little things but hey, Ill jsut mod the **** outta it and love every second of it, and still blow by most guys running the 6.4's, plus this body style is badass, you couldnt make it look any meaner I just dont see how, unless you made it SHOOT FIRE OUTTA THE HOOD! haha anyways thanks again, I think I know exactly what Im gonna do. ;)
