I am so ignorant when it comes to engine stuff. I have no idea what I'm looking at, but I do know beautiful craftsmanship when I see it. That stuff is gorgeous.
(is there a man-law against using 'beautiful' and 'gorgeous' in the same post? If so, sorry :( )

We'll let it slide this time because they actually are!!

Thank's
As far as getting into the motor that should do it for me. With my current mods and the addition of DR's H/C I should be putting down some very impressive times...Hopefully enough to satisfy me, but we all know how that goes...
Goldengreek5 01-26-2007, 05:01 PM Congrats Bev. Those things are nasty. U'll be in the mid -low 11's no problem. Cant wait to hear how they work for you!!

Thank's alot!! I'll be extremely happy to pull off a mid 11 sec run. That should really freak some people out at the track.
Black_SRT8 01-26-2007, 05:08 PM Can't wait to see the timeslips. Any plans on a dyno?

unfortunately I didn't have time to get it done but I will have plenty of time slips soon and will be able to compare my motor only runs to my previous times. They were very consistent so the comparison will be pretty accurate.
GotStroke? 01-26-2007, 10:44 PM Nice job on the pics Mark! Can't wait to hear your results.
OurZoo 01-26-2007, 10:49 PM We need a video of one of your best runs and another vid of the crowd as they see you do it.
timster 01-27-2007, 07:59 AM When I finally get around to modding my jeep it'll definitely be with the ported head and cam package from DR - I may also get nitrous, or some kind of forced induction.
Grip Grip 01-27-2007, 03:20 PM Nice, very NICE, but what happened to using the 273 cam? I was very anxious to see how it worked for you before ordering it.
Guess I'll have to settle for the 268.
I'd love to get a set of DR heads too, but Matt won't take my Heat Performance heads for a core -- and I can't say that I blame him. :(
HulkSmash 01-27-2007, 03:32 PM I didn't see it in the pictures; did they all also port out the kuhneuston valve?
oman srt8 01-28-2007, 07:41 AM nice work i like it all the wish to you waiting the new from you

I was thinking of the 273 but Matt recommended the 268 and so did a few of the techs from Comp Cams. You will also need a TC if you go with that one. SRT8freak from the blue site said he is definately going with the 273 so we'll see what happens. I'll be happy with the 75+ HP to the wheels..That gain is just NUTS!!!
My DR head and 268 just arrived as well, along with a 3200 stall, cai, 195 thermo, torque mgmt sys, and kooks. Matt @ Tune Time here in NJ will be breaking in his new 4 wd dyno with it. Before and after #'s naturally. Will post asap.
Can't sleep!:D

can't wait for the before and after numbers! Keep us posted!
:D
Will do. The only thing I'm not adding is the exhaust. The headers should make it a little louder, but the wife will go crazy with any mufflers!
At least for now!
Brendan
fyi - The stall might actually cost a little hp, but add acceleration!!!!
SpeedRacer333 01-29-2007, 05:00 PM Anyone have a clue of just the gains from ported heads alone (no cam change)??? I haven't researched this yet, but from a warranty stand-point and level of difficulty (if I do this as a DIY), just considering all options...
Inferno SRT8 01-29-2007, 07:21 PM Looks sick Mark, I think im going to get just the heads I dont want to dig that deep into the engine with tha cam. 40HP gained with just the heads is good for me.

OT, but I'm glad you decided to keep her Tony. :)

Thanks man! Me too!!! Check out the custom paint work being done.

I have not tried the heads with out doing a cam YET on a 6.1L.
We got 44 rwhp on a 5.7L doing heads and no cam (and that’s with the stock 5.7L crappy cam)
At this point my beast guess on a 6.1L would be ~50 WHP, and that going by my experience with going from a 6.1L cam to a Comp 268 cam on a 5.7L with our ported heads. The 268 was good for about 25hp over a 6.1L cam in a 5.7L. And we gained 75 AWHP with ported heads, and comp 268 on the 6.1L jeeps.
I hate to guess at anything, that’s just bench racing to me. My Charger SRT-8 will be here soon, that I bought to use are a tester for parts, and maybe heads and no cam is something I need to test. But I figure if your already doing heads, throwing a cam in there at the same time is not much more work so why not.
GotStroke? 01-30-2007, 12:51 AM Someone needs to crack 500rw corrected with a H/C/I 6.1. Through the auto that would be very impressive. Hell, a pullied, ECU'd blown AMG E55 only puts down ~450-460rw through the same trans.
GotStroke? 01-30-2007, 12:53 AM Thanks man! Me too!!! Check out the custom paint work being done.
Saw it, looks good:) Did those header bolts end up working out for you?

Thank's Tone...It really doesn't take much more to do the cam at this point. I think it's the combo that really works the best...They complement eachother.
tainui 01-30-2007, 10:03 AM If you're going in anyway...might as well do it all at once. Can't wait to hear impressions.
SRT-8RAT 02-01-2007, 01:29 PM Looks great!
They will work better!
Inferno SRT8 02-01-2007, 05:15 PM Saw it, looks good:) Did those header bolts end up working out for you?
Yea turned out a loose motor mount bolt was what was loosening the headers bolts, engine shifted and was being held by 1 mount and the headers. All great now.
El Jefe 02-14-2007, 03:02 PM update????

GotStroke? 02-14-2007, 11:21 PM Matt,
What gear were the dyno runs done in?
Thanks

Small update:
Premod/stock dyno test:
317hp and 321 torque on the awd dyno. We ran the test in 4th gear, with the full torque mgmt system bypass engaged. The stock tach was off a touch. The max dyno reading was only 6043 rpm and yet we were @ 6100 solid in the truck.
This was done as accurately as possible with weight set @ 5000lbs. Tune Time Performance uses a "Mustang" awd dyno.
Picking truck up saturday.
Looking for 400 plus @ the wheels.
I will post both before and after dyno sheets after saturday.
Brendan
