: Should I start taking the bus???

So 2 days ago on the interstate a truck shot a piece of wood up and it hit my front bumper at the very bottom and now I have a hole in it.

Today, my girlfriends sister backed her new 4runner up into a snow bank and jacked up her back end. Went to the body shop to get a est. and a guy came in asking who's silver jeep was out there. Well, he ran his tractor trailer into the side of my back bumper. Paint won't come off and the paint is now peeling.

I was going to get the front and back repainted and try to get teh plastic parts painted and especially the front after winter was over. Lots of little rock dings (then get a clear bra on front bumper). But now both ends need to be done. They can fix the front hole without getting a new bumper. I have had some bad luck. I decided I am taking a bus everywhere I for a while. Tomorrow I will probably have no rims and tires.... who knows!?!

That really sucks!

Is it my imagination, but will a lot of that just buff out? Do you have an orbital buffer?

Do you have a black cloud hanging over you where ever you go?

I get upset with every rock chip and running out to the garage with the touch-up paint right now...

I don't have a buffer. I could go somewhere and have them do it. But either way the paint started to peel within hours so it has to be re-painted. I am going to have the black plastic pieces of the front and back painted silver.

I probably do have some sort of dark ugly cloud over me. Thats life I guess. These are really all small things. I can live until spring to get the bumpers re-painted. The body shop said they would do the back one for free and not charge me labor on the front. Just for the paint. In a way I came out on top...

By the way... the guy that hit my car, well he works at the body shop. Thats why I am getting it done for free.

So it was meant to be...in an annoying and inconvenient way.

I'll never forget my first Mazda RX7. One week in and some guy came in the store I was working at and said is that your white car out there? I was expecting "nice car", but instead he told me he had just backed into it with his motorhome. Not nice.

Man you do have some bad luck that really does suck. It looks like most of that will buff out though but not with an orbital buffer, you won't create enough heat. It needs to be done with a rotary buffer using a 2 stage appraoch with 3M Perfect-It III and then the Foam Pad Glaze. I'm not an expert by any means, I just have a very good freind who paints cars for a living and he's shown me over the years how to do this. I learned on some of my older vehicles so unless you have experience doing this I'd just take it to the body shop. You run the risk of burnning through the clearcoat if you don't do it right.

It has to be re-painted anyways since the painted started to peel away after it was rubbed. I could probably get red off but then the bumper is still showing black. so I am having it done in a few weeks.
