They're performance pads so you give up quietness and low dusting capability for bite. Nothing you can do about it except go to some aftermarket pads.

EDIT: Wait, I just reread what you were saying. You're getting a squeal at 30 mph? Is it when you first apply your brakes?

if say i am doing 60 and want to slow down gently, at around 30mph down to about 10mph i will hear a squeak. if a break aggressively there will be no squeak sound. i do not get it

Yeah that's pad squeal. Nothing you can do about it, except go with an aftermarket pad.

will it go away at some point, or should i bring it in for service? and why did this suddenly start happening, say at 450 miles on the truck.

Generally you get that squeak when your brake build-up*dust* happens. Try spraying off the brake (after the rotors cool down) and that should take care of the problem until...the next rinse, usually every fill-up I see the squeak.

Thats the price you pay for high performance brakes. ;)

Just so that Esq76 knows, when you go with a quieter pad it has been said that you loose a little of the bite, or performance. Just a heads up in case you go that route!

Good Luck

That's definitely true. Hop in a race car and listen to the brake noise. And look at how much brake dust builds up after a few laps on a road course.

All pads are a compromise between noise, dust and performance.

You can always do replacement pads: http://www.zeckhausen.com/Jeep/SRT8.htm

I have a slight squeak when slowing easily between 30 to 10 mph. Just started about 2k miles ago (I have 9K). During hard breaking, no noise. After driving the car after a car wash or some rain, no noise for 1-2 days. So the suggestion by live4skins is right on.

I have the same squeak. Only 800 miles on the truck. That doesn't bother me as much as the brake dust though. I am seriously considering the zeckhausen pads. Been doing alot of research and they seem to be the way to go.

Just remember, they are BRAKES, not BREAKS -- as in breaks my concentration when I see brakes spelled wrong.

Other than that, try some BRAKE cleaner and turn up the music! The aftermarket exhaust will help cover the squeal too.....:)

Dam n I miss the autobahn.....

I installed the zeckhausen pads a couple of weeks ago and the squeak is gone. no real noticeable decrease in stopping power. slightly different pedal feel, but all in all, very satisfied.

went with Centric Posi-Quiet Semi-Metallic pads. shipped on time and installation a piece of cake.

....

With all the incorrect spellings in most threads (I'll admit, I'm guilty, in a rush), this is the one you pick on?

How funny is that. I frickin sent out a letter to a couple of corporate people a few weeks back and spelled do as due. Did I feel like a douche!:D Man I was in spelling bees and good in English back in the day. Anyways, I developed the noise as well last week around 2,300 miles. Annoying!

Mine have been squealing since a few hundred miles. I try to gear down manually to avoid the sound.
