Whats up guys... I just joined this forum and need your advice...

Im in the market to buy a Jeep SRT 8... It must be Black with less than 20k miles... now the question is, should I get an 07 or 08? Any major differences besides the headlights, If I do get an 07 I would change the headlights to the new 08/09 Xenon lights (how much are they to change and are they just plug and play?)... What price should I expect to pay for the SRT8? What considered a "good deal"?

Welcome to the forum.

To answer your questions yes there are major differences between the 07 and 08. If money does not matter without a doubt get the 08. The new black interior looks much much better and has several changes. One major one being the new mygig navigation unit, dark trim panels (compared to old aluminum ones), much improved steering wheel, leather wrapped e-brake to name a few. As for the front end yes the headlights can be changed however its the front bumper thats different as well. So your gonna need a 08+ front bumper as well unless you pay to get some custom moulding work done. The 08+ headlamps are auto leveling (atleast the HID equipped ones are). This system you will not be able to get to function in the older models. You might also need to make some sort of headlight harness if these are going into the older models im not 100% sure. You can expect to pay anywhere from $30,000 to $35,000 for a group 1 and 2 equipped used 08 SRT8.
Hope this helps.

Don't buy one-they are junk  ........kidding-our Jeeps are the shiznit ;)

Just grab an 07' with lower miles and slap some aftermarket HID's in there and you'd be set. A good deal is mid to upper 20's for an 07' and low 30's for an 08'. JUST DO IT!

you guys are awsome.... I'm definetly doing an '08 as I prefer a better interior and I dont want to play around with the xenon headlights... So do you think I can find an 08 with options 1 & 2 for low 30's with less than 20k miles??

Also must have Navigation... I read there is a new "GIG" Navigation... is this for 08 or just in 09?? Is it a big difference from 06/07 Navigations?? Is there a way to hook up my ipod to the Nav and scroll through my music folders/playlists through my steering wheel controls?

Read my first post it answers the questions you just asked again. Mygig is available in 08/09 models and is a completely different unit than the older REC navigation found in the 05/06/07 Jeeps. Huge improvement IMO and I have owned both.

P.S. it does have an audio jack input which you would still control the music using the ipod, however the Mygig units have a built in hard drive and a USB port right on the front panel you can upload MP3's right there. I have TONS of music on my harddrive.

You will fall in love with whatever year srt jeep you find, pictures don't do it any justice. Go for a test drive and you'll understand, best of luck with the search and have patience don't buy on impulse.

whats a good price to pay for an 09 with options 1 and 2 $47,000?? In New England they are giving 7k off right off the bat (employee discount etc)... Think I can grab it for 37k area?
