Went to my local stealership this morning to get my first oil change (3200 mi, $105). And requested the PCM flash for the shift hestation. I gave them the TSB # and everything. This is what is typed into my reciept...........

"Advised Checked vehicle for codes--no codes found. Checked sensors ok--Checked for tsb part # up to date--No updates at this time--Could get no substandard operation."

They told me my PCM is up to date and no flashes are avaliable. I bought my Srt8 in july and pointed out that the Tsb is dated 12/20/06. So what do you guys think is going on? Your help will be appreciated as I'll take action based on the advice you give me.

MY Pcm # is 4692392AI For those of you that can check these things out.

Thanks in advance

Do you have an o6 or 07? The update only shows up for 06 when the dealers looks it up. I see you are in North NJ, what dealer?

I'm guessing you have an '06, the TSB #'s is: 21-020-06. Check here for all the info: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_tsb.htm
The flash is for the TCM not the PCM, though I haven't got mine yet. My stealer wont do TSB's unless you have the problem explained in the TSB.

I have an 06' bought in july during the employee pricing. It has not seen the dealer since sept. I gave the service rep the Tsb # before they started. And stood there while my service rep went thru the computer for ten minutes before telling me that I had the most current flash.

BTW the dealership is Teterboro Chysler Jeep.

Oh and I might have gotten all these psm's tcm's tlc's all mixed up. But gave them the right Tsb# before they started. And the first thing I told him is that I have the hestation before he asked me.

Go figure, I used to defend my stealership, but I soon learned that trained monkies purhaps know more about my SRT that the folks working there. I was told upon purchase that I could do anything w/o fear of voiding my warranty, well don't you know that all changed when I called to schedual my head/cam install.

I think these cars are too custom for many dealerships. They only see one or two. But I'm perplexed as heck as to why I can't get this flash. My truck is six months old, Tsb is one month old!?!?!

And I guess they'll tell you anything to make a sale.

My SRT8 is the only one my stealer has ever sold.(small city). I have 1 of 2 SRT8's anywhere in my area, too rare for them. You may try another dealer/stealer.

I've really been thinking that lately but I've bought five other Jeeps there and am picking up an new 07' limited from them saturday, for the wife. I guess you'd call me loyal, but to a point.

Take it to another dealer. I brought mine to a dealer I did not purchase from with the TSB in hand. They asked me if I was having the problem, and I told them yes. They performed the TSB and she runs great.

I guess I'll have to do that!! Didn't want to waste more time and trouble going to another dealer, but might have to in this case. Thanks.

Think I'll stop by Borough Jeep next week. Is there any service advisor that you deal with? So that I may speed thru the explaning process.

I wasn't gonna just walk in and say flash my ride. But just go and talk and feel them out. As I didn't buy my car there. Then make an appt.

Thanks for all your help Jlandbl, I'm off right now to pick up my wife's 07 GC limited. Trading in her 03 laredo. I got a toy its only fair that she get's a new toy as well. Thanks again.

You could try talking to your salesman that you bought the '07Ltd from to see if he can persuade the service guys to do the TSB. After all you have bought several vehicles off them, it's the least they could do.

I'd do that SRT8 but he'd just walk back to the same service advisor whom I spent all that time with. The service advisor also knows me well from all the GC's I've bought and serviced there. This is why I don't understand why my TCM is up to date. They told me they wouldn't update a newer TCM with an older one. Despite the 12/12/06 release date. !?!?!?!?!?!?

I have an '07 and was given the same story by my dealer. I was told I have the most up to date software and that the flash doesn't apply. However I do have a very real shift hessitation they can't seem to resolve.

Fastjeepsrt8,
Please see this post:http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2226

I am trying to document this problem for the next SRT chat. I have an '07 with the "AE" flash on my TCM and it still does the same hesitation on the shifts. This is now documented by my dealer. What build date do you have? It is found on the inside door. Mine is 9/06.

Thanks for the info Bill. I have the same build date of 9/06. Interesting that you got the flash and it didn't fix the problem. Keep in touch and let me know what kind of progress you get on this and I'll do the same. I wonder if there is a way my dealer could contact yours because they think I'm nuts. lol You can just pm me when you have some details. Thanks again.

I have an 07 with the same problem, the dealer wouldnt flash it for me but documented the issue. Maybe if we get enough people complaining about it than maybe they'll come out with something for us.

Yea this is starting to look like a seperate issue for the 07's. I guess we're just going to have to be diligent and patient. Look how long everyone with the 06 shift problem waited. I'll be sure to post any details I get from my dealer. Maybe something will come out of the next SRT chat session.

Hey guys,
Noobie here...been doing alot of reading on the boards about the tranny issues. I really like this truck but passed on an 06' last year after driving it with the hestitation problems. I was getting ready to order an 07' this week after reading that the hestitation problems were fixed, but now I am hearing that there is a "kick down" problem? This couldn't be worse than the 06' issues before the TSB, are they? Do the aftermarket tcm/pcm recalibrations work, or a waste of $$. Trying to get all the info before I spend the 42K, any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The issue is with all GC SRT's built before the flash update came out. 06's and early build 07's.

Fever I wouldn't let the hesitation issue stop you from buying this truck. How much hesitation can it have and still go under 5 sec 0-60? It's about throttle feel and response and a smoother rolling wot. The Srt engineers stated it won't make the truck any faster. Good luck with your purchase.

Thanks for the input greenlight, I just got back from driving the 07'...all I can say is WOW! What a difference, I do believe that the 06' I drove had some major issues. The salesman even told me that other customers frowned on that particular unit. Ofcourse, he told me that today and not in Decemeber when I test drove it. I have a friend who had a good experience from another Jeep dealer that is pretty close to home. I am ordering an 07' black/nav/sunroof from him tomorrow! I can't wait to get this beast in my garage!
Thanks guys for the posts and information shared on the forum, makes my hard earned $$ easier to spend! :D
Cheers!

Find a new dealer.

You bet...only took me one phone call. Great dealership, unbelievable customer service and honest pricing. Expected time for delivery (45 to 60 days) or he can find me one in a week through a dealer trade. I have a Avalanche I put up for sell last week, if not sold by me, an honest bid for wholesale on trade for the new Jeep. I bought a GC limited from him(sales manager) in 01', since then he has purchased the dealership. I would have gone direct, but he did not have a 06' or 07' SRT-8 on the lot to test drive. After driving the 06'/07' from a very large dealership in Indy, I have come to appreciate a 5 star dealer in a rural county that deserves his success through honesty and hard work. I would refer a family member to him for a future purchase! And yes, he has the allocation to get the SRT's...Looking forward to having some fun!

Look at this post: http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=26116#post26116

The SRT engineers do take care of us!
I ran a 13.1 1/4 with stock intake mod and dealer purchased and installed Mopar exhaust. Hoping for better results next month with the re-flash for the TCM.

FUN truck! Mine is black and no one believes it could be a jeep!

Very impressive times, "Is that a Jeep?!" I agree, the SRT team is top notch, especially after reading through the posts/answers for the last on-line chat for SRT owners by team srt. I am sold, I officially have on order a blk 07', opt I, nav/sunroof. Btw- I ordered the Corsa exhaust from my dealer along with the cai from Mopar...I have had a great experince with the touring Corsa exhaust with long tube headers on my 03' vette. Absolutely zero resonating noise in the cabin, plus I read(correct me if I am wrong)that SRT and Corsa joined talents for engineering the exhaust for the Jeep. GM and Corsa did the same for the Vette(offered as a GM part-no waaranty issues as I assume the same for Jeep). Debating over the headers though, warranty is a big issue as I plan to buy an extended warranty.

Man, I so glad I got a chance to test drive the real deal! This is going to be a fun year on the road!

Cheers!
