Still awaiting the arrival of my 2007 Black Jeep SRT8 and am looking for some advice on what I should have done to prevent rust when if finally arrives.
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and we like to use a lot of salt on the roads here!
My options are Rust Check and Krown Rust control (both drill holes in body panels in order to reach the insides) as well as numerous types of undercoating options.
I've heard many different thoughts on what to use and benefits/down falls of each.
Looking for help from other users as everyone here seems so helpful and I hope someone can help me decide on what to do. Thanks in advance!
P.S. To not drive the Jeep in the winter is not an option for me, for all the "Smart A@#$s" out there.............ha ha ha:)

I would not use anything, would not drill any holes, or apply any goop. Most likely it will bring the rust on faster, and plug up your drain holes. A lot of salt here in Chicago. Keep it clean when you can, wash underneath and the wheel wells, give it a good coat of polish. You have a good Rust Warranty to begin with. I had a 84 Olds Toronado that I had Z-Bart work their magic on. Within 2 years, I had rust forming in all the corners of my doors. Waste of money. Spend it on Performance mods, void the warranty, and keep the car for 3-5 years.

I ordered cans of VHT High Temp Clearcoat spray and sprayed the underside of my truck after a thorough pressure wash. I also sprayed the suspension components and springs and the inside of my wheels. Works like a charm.

Thats interesting on the clear coat. I may have to do that.
I have a cousin who owns a dealership so I had him order me a Final Coat Electronic Rust Inhibitor. Hooks up to the cars battery and uses some type of electrical pulses to stop rust from forming. If you buy it for a car less than 2 years old, the company will guarantee no rust.
I am not keen on having holes drilled in my truck and messy oil spray dripping all over the place. And no way they are going to muck up my undercarriage with that sticky undercoat crap.

Keeping the undercarriage flushed is probably the best most cost effective thing you could do. I've found that most of those after market solutions attract rust. And the paint sealers end up promoting paint pealing.

Thanks very much for all your advice. By the sounds of it I'm going to be using a lot of water to keep it as salt free as possible and investing in some clear high temp paint....................now all I need is for my baby to arrive, ordered it on Nov 15, 2006 and still waiting.......

Since the day I got my Jeep I noticed a fair amount of rust on the undercarriage, especially on the axle tubes around the differentials, so I went to a truck/industrial undercoating shop because I live near the ocean, sometimes I even drive on the beach right along the saltwater. By asking a lot of questions I determined basically they would spray the whole undercarriage and they even drill holes in the bottom of the doors so they can spray inside. When the guy told me he wanted to drill into my doors I guess I had an unpleasantly surprised look on my face so he insisted on showing me the plastic plug they stick in the hole to seal it back up, as if that makes it OK.
Needless to say I had them do it my way, they didn't touch the doors, just sprayed the axles and differentials, framerails, and a few other spots I pointed out. They also wanted to do the fenderwells but I clean those myself every time I wash the car which I think is a much better solution, but you have to remember to thoroughly clean the inside of the fender lip. The rear lip is easy to clean but the front has the liner in the way. hth
