: Got mad at the KONI Shock rep at the Rolex 24 Race

So we were out walking around late night....... and I've had TONS to drink and we come up on the KONI shock tent. We were talking to the Rep. Lee and I ask him when are they gonna release some shocks for our Jeeps. I tell him there are lowering springs out now and we need some. That twit told me that we are too small a market and no one would buy them. I told him he's nuts and could sell 50 pairs just from this site alone probably. He said that he would need 5000 to do anything. I tell him if they build them..... people will buy them. At some point, our shocks will wear out. I'm scared to see what the replacement cost is from the dealer! I mean...... how many damn Integra's and Camaro's are left on the road. At some point, these companies have to open up their eyes to new cars. Why do all the SRT's get screwed? I'm tired of people treating us like crap! Like we're stupid for buying our Jeeps. We can't even get a decent priced Gauge Pod!!! $300.00 for A FREAKING GAUGE POD?!?!?! Come on already and take care of us!! WE ARE WAITING!!!!!

Fricken small minded people....where is the respect that we deserve? 5000 to get started....what a joke-good try anyways.. Should have backed your rig to the tent and gave him a taste of your exhaust....what an a-hole.

They're stuck in a rut Harrison. Apparently if its not a mustang, vette, or anythng japaneese, they can't seem to identify an aftermarket for it.

Seriously, you can buy off the shelf parts to convert a Honda civic into lambo-eating flying trashcan, but you can't make a shock for a Jeep SRT8.

stupid people with small minds, and they wonder why they're all dropping like flies.

I mean seriously.... 5K?!?! Give me a break. Whatever..... it's their loss. All you need is ONE company to do it and hopefully others will follow for their piece of the market.

thats a ****ing joke, that guy probably has no say in the company, just some twit hired to go around and pass out stickers and flyers. ive delt with so many of those people. id love to have some type of lowering/shock improvement out there for the jeep. but as far as other mods go, most stuff for these jeeps costs alot because most of the peope have some good money, and buy it regardless, ive noticed on a few products it doesnt seem the cost people will still pay, even though its $50 worth of product.

LOL! At least you were doin it right and had TONS to drink, but apparently you weren't belligerent enough to make him understand! Usually helps if you're bigger than they are too! LOL! Just kidding, but maybe they'll get the point one day!

Hey at least I got us some free shirts:p That guy was a tool. I remember him saying that somebody with a Jeep SRT8 contacted them about making a coilover setup but the tooling would have been too extensive. I bet it was BJB inquiring into a drag race setup:D

I was pretty drunk enough...... right Chris?;) It was made known that it was BS for sure. Is that your shirt in the back of my Jeep Chris? I was wondering where it came from.

Well.... looking at his card here, it says he's the Automotive and Motorsports Product Manager so...... it looks like he WAS the one to talk with. Hopefully Chris and I gave him enough crap to where they will consider it. Until then though...... I'm still gonna feel like the red-headed step child.:(

Sad, but it's all about business. Mopar has been getting the shaft by the aftermarket for yrs. You can practically build a 60's/70's Rustang/Cheby from the ground up w/repo parts, & Mopars are just now getting full qtrs.

Is that not business 101? In business to make money? Why would I go through R&D (unknown cost) to have a minimal if any profit?

with that kind of reply he'd be lucky not to have me run the first set of shocks right up his ass...hell i would even consider purchasing all 5000 units and putting in the same place. pea brained *****es

Woa Woa! Wait! We have bilstiens and you want something basically identical? I mean, its makes lots of since! How many jeeps do they make a year? Exactly... R&D, production....etc..come on...

did you write this thread drunk? haha

wait who is the stupid one here?? think about it... if they have to spend 30K+ in R&D and tooling and sell a wopping 50 part a year for 5 years that 250 just to cover tooling they would have to charge $120 a piece just to brake even... (that doesnt include material and labor to make them) they are in the busniess to make money and sad to say the jeep is just toooo low of volume production car to make a ton of parts for! ever notice what an exhaust for an 355 is??? yep 7K dollars and I bet they sell under 20 a year.

Harrison@Stage6

I want something made for a lowered Jeep. The stock Bilsteins don't work correctly with a lowered Jeep. They need to be for the drop. I asked the guy something and he responded. Get off my case you 2. What have you done asking for stuff to be made for our Jeeps? Your prices are way off compared to what they actually have into it. You act like they need to re-invent the wheel for these shocks. They can do these in a heartbeat if they wanted to. It is NOTHING for them to make these...... that's what pisses me off so much!!!

You ever wonder why MHP is selling MB C63 tunes for $2K for? Because people are DUMB enough to pay for them. It's the price of the car and type that dictates the prices. Why are their Integra vs. Corvette prices so different? Get a clue.......

they also need to take into account the nonSRT WK's. How many of those are made a year?

I've tried to getBwoody to make a CAI for the non SRT for 2 years....and people keep buying the K&N hot air ntakes while bwoody sits on their hands

I wonder how many MHP C63 tunes they have sold? Because my neighbor wouldn't buy one and he is stupid rich! I tried to sell him but is buying the carlison tune instead because it is 800 bucks cheaper.......

NOW, would his smile of been $800 bigger with the MHP tune vs. I doubt it......He wouldn't know the difference......

5000 shocks is a joke. They would not have 30k in development as the rear are standard length and just the base of the front strut would need unique brackets. I am very familiar with vipers and can tell you I guarantee koni still hasn't sold 5000 shocks after 17 years and 25000 vipers sold.

Let's not give these guys a hard time. They are the first and *only* suppliers to make coilovers of any sort for the Jeep.

I already have Koni 8211 coilovers, I got them from Koni Motorsports. Gordon can make you a set, just like he did for me.
