Has anyone used the JLAudio CleanSweep CL441dsp system in the Jeep SRT8 to install aftermarket amps with the factory head unit? If so, were you happy with it, etc.? Thanks.

I didn't get the navi so I was more than happy to throw out the stock stereo when I upgraded everything. CleanSweep is supposed to work good though you get a a sub level adjuster to mount besides that everything looks factory. Not sure on the sound quality though. I know with after market stereo's you can get much better DAC's than the factory uses in there CD players. It may have some effect? The Burr Brown DAC's in higher end Pioneer Premier and Clarion stuff sounds really good.

Thanks for the info. Since my stock unit has Nav + Sirius + Unconnect (bluetooth) I'd rather not swap that out. I have never used a stock head unit for a high end system before but a device like CleanSweep wasn't available when I upgraded in the past. From what I hear, there is a calibration CD that cleans up your specific stock signal and pushes it through high volt outs (8 volt) to your amps. As a side note, when I watch UniqueWhips, they use this set up on almost every car. I just don't know anyone that has used it and want to wait for direct feedback before making a move.

Is this required when just adding an amp & subs? To get signal should I tap into the rear speaker wires before or after the oem amp?

Hello I have the Clean Sweep in my 06' with nav. It works great. It really flattens out the frequency response of our radio. This enables the radio to play a wide response with no dropouts in the 20-20,000 (or so) range It is money well spent in order to keep the nav system.

To get a full range signal you must "only" tap into the rear speakers as the front outputs are not full range. Any questions I'd be glad to answer.

Green Light - Thanks for the info. Did you install a full system (i.e. front, rear, sub)? If you only tap into the rear, your fader will not work off the stock head unit. There are inputs on the CleanSweep unit for front right/left and rear right/left. I do understand why we cannot tap into the front lines at the speaker (i.e. bass directed to front doors, mids/high to dash), however we should be able to tap into the fronts before the crossover, agree? Did you self install your system? Thanks again!

Green, if I'm only adding a sub/amp I don't need the cleansweep or H/L converter when using an Alpine amp w/speaker level inputs? Is there a benefit to tapping into the rear speaker wires before they reach the factory amp? TY.

Does anyone have a CD copy of the service manual, or know wher an inexpensive copy can be bought?

I know this is an old post but I installed the JL CS into my SRT when I had it. It you didn't go through with your install yet I have one, as well as speakers, amps, and a sub for the rear.

jlandbl, I didn't do the install myself but head about all the datails. I did a full system speakers (focals) 2 amps (focal also) custom made sub box 2 12" Jl's. Got hardly any room left in the cargo area. The clean sweep really rounds it out. It really pulls out the instruments from our rather flat radio. Great sound, expensive but that's my kind of mod.

I don't believe that you can tap into the front the crossover must be installed inside the radio as only seperated sound comes from the front outputs. If I could have I would have done it that way myself.

It uses the oem radio output harness plug for the imput. Straight plug. It also has an aux imput that I have used to plug in an Ipod, works great. Even though I have the wire going thru my glove box.

Srt 8, the Clean sweep will "clear up" your entire sound system. It works by keeping your frequency response high and flat. Just think about your rpm vs. torque curve. But then your next move is to remove those paper Boston acoustics speakers. You can go to jlaudio.com and do a search for clean sweep. Once there you can download the installation manual, pdf file. And tapping into the rear speaker wire before the amp would be the way to go. Cause your using another amp for the sub.

Here's the link off of this site with more details. http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1717&highlight=sale

Once you're there you can also click on the Ebay link to see some pics.

I also have the HID's just sitting in a box. I never got around to selling anything since removing the components from the SRT. It's been a hectic few months for me.

JL - I see you're in my neck of the woods - could be an easy transaction!
