Sounds like he is making great power and boost and then in 3rd and 4th gear there may be some KR present. The mph definitely does not match the et especially considering its a centrifugal blower.

I was about to post the same thing. I was running those trap speeds with a 12.1. His 1/8 must be blistering and then die off in 3rd-4th gear.

After the 3-4 shift though the RPM's drop substantially and dont' swing back up immediately like the 1-2 or 2-3. So the demand on the blower is just as great but the crank isn't spinning as fast, could be reaching for more timing.

An 11.6 should be trapping closer to the low-side of 120mph.

Temp on the track is 43F according to Paul.... just about perfect conditions for an AWD car that doesn't care about hooking, 10 degrees above freezing. I'd say he is 11.9-11.8 during the warmer months :p

That puts him right on Par with FASTSrt8's Vortch-blown stock block from Tampa.

Sounds like the blower was tuned on the dyno in 3rd gear and it isnt liking the extra load presented by being in 4th gear. Someone tell Paul to datalog his next run and if he is seeing more than 3 degrees of KR in fourth gear than he needs to try adding about 3% of fuel in that area and possibly remove a couple of degrees of timing. If there is no KR, he may be running real fat in 4th gear. Something is definitely wrong on the big end of the track.

He may have, will have to research it. But that was PRE-TUNING days too... the two anomolies may cancel themselves out when compared to a fully tuned headerless/camless rig like Paul's.

I still say the Vortech makes more power than FASTs ASM kit. Remember FAST also had heads/cam/headers and ran 12.0 @ 112. He didn't dip into the 11s without nitrous.

There is no way his tranny would be slipping. If the 2010 jeep srt is going to have the 500hp srt with the same tranny as now i'm sure that its fully capable of holding that power. At 600hp i would seriously worry about life expectancy. I can presume its the tune, if its such a conservative tune it might be causing the power to just richen out too much in the higher gear ? The vehicle needs to be strapped on a dyno w/ a wideband and tuned from top to bottom. That would give him more power/a better powerband/ and increase motor life. Now the tcase would probally be the first thing to self implode.

He put down 517whp. That's 630hp at the motor taking 22% drvetrain loss in account. That's easily enough to nuke that tranny. I'm not saying that IS the problem, but we all know his driving habits and he's had it back for a little while now.:D It very well could be tuning for sure. I hope so. The last thing he needs it to call BBill with trying to buy a new house and all.

I would agree that Paul's Vortech kit puts down a lot more power than FAST's, but FAST didn't have any tuning, just lots of bolt-ons.

I dont think his tranny is slipping in 4th gear, if you look at his 160mph video the rate of acceleration slows way down in 4th/5th. Its like PPP said, its either pulling timing or running out of pulley.

How did he go from 11.6 to 11.57 and pick up 6mph? Either this mph is wrong or the first one was wrong. Im leaning towards the first one being wrong as 118 matches 11.57 better. What did Sarge run?

Thanks guys! The first run with the low mph I shifted too early on accident...the rest have been above 115mph....I have ran about 10 times and have pulled a 1.6 60ft everytime even against sarges jeep with the protorque....I got some good head to head videos of us!

Letting the beast cool down now iced off and hoping to get a 11.50 11.49......roll cage teritory!

I'm amongst the fastest here....faster than the gt-r, 335, 135, amg cl/cls/clk63's e55's, and everything else except a Porsche and some crazy modded clk BLACK SERIES

It kinda sucks cuz I had so many more plans for my jeep and I've already surpassed my goal.....

Oh and my tranny is perfectly fine guys. Getting all fluids changed wed as well!

so let me get this straight. 1 srt8GC and 6 k later with vortech supercharger and your running neck and neck with ford GT, Z06 , vipers , ferrari's, and pissing off zr1's and getting decent mpg for what it is and can haul the kids around AND go through snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW theres the bang for the buck of the decade

I wonder if the 3/4th shift lag Paul is having has anything to do with the missfire code he is getting every few hundred miles. Hey Paul you should relay this info to vortech so than can make any proper tuning adjustments prior to mass production.

The 3-4 shift lag is not new to F/I at Paul's horsepower level. I had it, FlaSRT8 had it, others have had it, Bryan may have had it too.

The TCM is pulling timing and the clutches are sliming themselves together. The B2 is eating itself and I belive the K3 is disengaging, you'd have to ask Bill, he's the expert.

For a lot of us approaching 600whp it was a sign, but like I said, it could be a dynamic associated with tuning as well. A phonecall to Bill would be the prudent move.

Look at it this way, for $1500 in a 2 stage ZEX and FJO Controller you can run the same 11.6

N20 will always be the cheapest way to go
Supercharging will be next
Turbocharging will always be the most expensive
