Caught a new GTO at a light. I was behind him actually. When the light went green, he moved out fairly quick, but I don't think he noticed me untill he looked back and I was still right behind him.

At that point he punches it, but I had already dropped the hammer. At the top of second gear, it was clear that I was quicker, so I changed lanes to his left, and he let off as soon as I got even with him. As soon as we shut down for the next light, I noticed the Po-Po in the left turn lane waiting for the light. The cool part was he gave me a big thimbs once he saw what just stomped on him!

Nice. Did you happen to notice if it had two tailpipes on the driver's side or one pipe on each side?

Careful with those GTO's.
Saturday at the drags I ran across an'06 with headers, stock exhaust (very quite), CAI, and a tune. This car runs 12 flat 1/4 all day long, pass after pass.
I have new respect for those grocery getters!

he had spray.....that would be my guess. i have owned three f-body's(00t/a,01ss,02t/a) and no way he would have ran that with just those mods. in my last ss i had tsp 228r cam, long tubes, whisper lid(aka CAI), driver mod!!!, and tune and i ran 12.50's on avg. no way he is .5 faster than me with just those mods.

in fact my pro charged t/a ran 11.7's and 10.9x on spray. now that i put that in perspective the gto wouldn't be running 12.00's with that small amount of mods. he had to spray and he just didn't tell you. also headers that are quiet still have cats or they are shorty's and niether of those styles put out much power over stock on ls based motors. i think he lied about his mods

oh well, no matter what they won't be runnin slicks on the street...:D just my .02 my bad it my only be worth .01 though

You can take that to the bank!

I think if both are stock the Jeep wins the 0-60 and the GTO wins the quarter. I find that I don't care as much anymore which one is faster, since they are both a ton of fun! (Good thing, because I would go broke if I got into a mod war with myself LOL).

I don't think you will get a better reply to the post than Jeep and GTO since he has both.

On the other hand, I like the idea of the modding war so we can see which mods have the best effect for the money. Have at it.

don't forget that a race from the rear is aided by the draft your getting from the car in front. sounds like fun though.

Yeah, I don't think drafting is a factor at speeds around 10-30mph.

so the jeep is at 10-30 mph at the top of second gear?

if you dont think there is a drafting benefit at 10-30 mph bring your bicycle over and we'll go for a ride. i'll show you how much a factor drafting is at 10-30 mph. ;)

Drafting won't have any affect until after 60mph, even then it's not significant until higher speeds.
