Well after a lot of looking for both new and used, I just put down a deposit on a 2008 leftover at a Jeep dealership in northwestern Florida. I live in NJ and fly down this weekend to pick it up. It is a brand new black (clear coat) with the preferred package 29L and SRT Group 1. Here is the funny part, I still have never driven one of these beasts, hopefully I'll like it:).

I look froward to being an active member of the forum.

Thanks.

Bruce

you will fall in love within the first mile of driving, probably before you even sit in it.

I arrived in Florida this morning and saw my beutiful 2008 SRT8 sitting on the showroom floor. Wow, it looked great. The transaction went quite smoothly, and I was on my way to a 400 mile ride to Orlando to drop the car off to a transporter. I have to say I really like this vehicle, powerful but classy look, nice sound, nice interior, and overall a very solid feeling vehicle. I was really impressed with just how nice and solid it rides (my last 2 jeeps were a 1998 5.9, and a 2004 Overland). When I finally hit Route 10 and took the beast up over 60mph, I noticed a big problem. At 60+ mph, I have a bad steering wheel vibration / shimmy. Bad enough that not only was the steering wheel visibly shaking, but I could even see the seatback of the front passenger seat shaking badly. I sincerely hope it is just a wheel balancing issue, or a bad tire. But this really put a damper on my day. This is a brand new vehicle, a 2008, and should not have any issues. Has anyone else experienced this with less than 100 miles on the clock. Please let me know. I guess when it gets delivered this week, it's first trip will be to the Jeep dealership. Thanks guys.

Sitting on the showroom floor they all look nice but you should have taken it for a test drive before signing any papers, you would have known about the shaking then.
I hope is not a big deal, like you said lets hope is just a wheel balancing issue or a bad tire. If it's something serious, I recommend shipping it back to them are their own expense.
Good luck!

I doubt this but it could be possible..... how long was it sitting on the showroom floor? I wonder if the tires developed flat spots? I know that in my old big mud trucks, if they sat for awhile, it took about 20 mins. of driving to "heat" the tires up so they would round out and get rid of the flat spots. If the truck has been sitting idle for like 6 months to a year, it could be a possiblilty. Who knows? When you take it into your dealer, let them know it's been sitting forever and ask them about it. You never know what the runflats could have done sitting. That's just wierd. Either that or a balance issue.
