: Dealers just SUCK! Still no Jeep and no Jeep til after Jan 19th!
Get$$$Man 01-08-2009, 11:00 PM I dropped my Jeep off December 28 to have the fan replaced/fixed, (see thread: http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22514).
The next day they confirmed that the whole fan needed to be replaced and that it was going to be covered under warranty. They said they even expected the parts before New Years.
I was told they would have the truck no more then 4 days.
Granted the holidays and weekends slowed the parts down I was told on Jan 5th that the parts would be there tomorrow the 6th.
Well I call the 6th and guess what? They received the fan but not the module!!! And they don't expect the module til after Jan 19th!
I'm supposed to go to Canada on Jan 11th with the rig
I payed for the trip in full in advanced and everyone knows vacations aren't cheap!
Well during the whole process of actually thinking my car was going to be finished in time for my road trip I had Duelers expressed delivered to my house for a hefty hefty shipping charge because they were only in stock in a warehouse across the country and needed them to be here to be put on for canada.
I'm pissed this sucks!
Bang Bang 01-08-2009, 11:21 PM I would demand a rental (a nice one too) ASAP.
Good luck.

That's the next step with a trip there. DEF not doing this over the phone. But I'm not sure about the laws or rules with taking a rental/loaner over the boarder?
SRT-MANA 01-09-2009, 01:00 AM Ask them to do a dealer locate....then do a dealer to dealer should take a day or 2 thats if its not on backorder!

Vinnysrt8 01-09-2009, 06:02 AM wow that sucks tell them u want a rental.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 01-09-2009, 11:25 AM yep, unfortunately dealerships like these are becoming more and more common. appointements are nothing more than reserving a place in line nowadays. not sure why they can't get the parts list right when it comes to shipping ALL the "needed" parts. when i had my rack and pinion issues, they got in the rack after a week and then told me "it didn't come with all the needed parts like we thought..." and as a result ended up waiting another week for that part to show...what a crock...(i think they are just looking for reasons to keep it around for joyriding purposes. I lose major sleep when my Jeep isn't in MY possesion.
Get$$$Man 01-09-2009, 01:25 PM I took a picture of my mileage. If they are driving it this will be a big issue.

speak softly and carry a big stick. ;)
BTLFED 01-09-2009, 02:30 PM Bro, My Chebby truck blew the front diff on Dec 19th and I just got it back yesterday. The problem is the factories and warehouses have extended the time off during the Holidays due to poor sales and trying to save a buck. Even though I was out of the bumper to bumper warranty, Chebby got me a rental after I got back to NY on the 29th of Dec. My advice is to go in and explain your situation but be sympathetic to the Big 3 loosing money. Kindly explain that you have been put out and would like a rental, the bad part is the dealer rental isnt going to allow you to go into Canada.
Murfman 01-09-2009, 03:31 PM I know you are upset, but if the part is on backorder from Chrysler, it is out of the dealers hands. They cant exactly crap the part out if it is on national B/O. I know it sux, but trust me it sux just as much for the service guy behind the counter. Thank NAFTA, the economy, and outsourcing for all these problems, its a much bigger picture than your trip to Canada IMHO. The Factorys shut down for a6 weeks, many suppliers are shutting down either temporarily or permanently, it just sux all around..
ChrisWK 01-09-2009, 04:11 PM If your jeep is warranty work they should give you a rental car, I had a part back ordered they got me a rental car.
BlackJeepSRT 01-09-2009, 04:47 PM That really sucks. What have they done for you in the meantime?
promo718 01-09-2009, 04:49 PM on the bright side, these days you can get a bargain on airfare

I dont think on backorder because today they told me they were putting it on "Priority" and that it might be in earlier now. That part sounds like a punch of bs to me.
That really sucks. What have they done for you in the meantime?
Drove my moms ford Freestyle :mad::mad::mad::mad: terrible car
on the bright side, these days you can get a bargain on airfare
Yeah we shoulda decided to fly
BlackJeepSRT 01-09-2009, 06:48 PM So they aren't comping you anything? No rental? Car payment?
dodgeboy16 01-10-2009, 01:23 AM Don't blame the DEALERS it isn't their fault. Without going into a lot of detail. One; Chrysler is having problems with their Suppliers. Two; Chrysler has closed some of its Plants/Supply Terminals and if I understand correctly everything is being shipped from one location but I may be wrong on this. I know when they closed the Newark Del. Plant everything that was shipped from there now comes out of Mich. Another thing they are doing more of is transfering parts from Dealers that have the parts to Dealers that don't, this practice isn't new but Chrysler is relying more on it these days. The bailout should help some because some of that money is Earmarked for the Suppliers.

Nope nothing. Just that my part was put on priority.

Okay, BUT if the dealer knew this was going on they shouldn't have assured me it would only take less then a week.
BlackJeepSRT 01-11-2009, 06:54 AM Yeah? I'd "priority" their wife if that was all.
Murfman 01-11-2009, 08:53 AM putting a part order on Priority means that it IS on backorder, there are none in the system, anywhere. When on Priority, Chrysler then tries to get one ASAP, even if it means pulling one from production status, this is a complicated process, as most assembly plants are on the "just in time" system with the vendors, meaning that specific parts for each vehicle being built are delivered just before they are needed for assembly. The factory does not have to stockpile a bunch of parts, and it is a good system, but it also means it is harder to get a "Prority" order fileed than it was say 15 years ago. Good luck with your ride. Murf
Purevl2 01-11-2009, 09:03 AM I was a manager for Enterprise Rent-a-car for 7 years. If you car is under Jeep's 3/36k mile warranty and it is a warrantied repair, they owe you a rental car, and they will pay $40/day with dealer rate, which means you should get a Charger/Pacifica/Liberty/Cherokee/Commander size vehicle (they have all of them). They will pay however long until your car's done, but you'll need to put down a credit card (you won't be charged, though). You will get unlimited miles and you can drive it to Alaska if you want. Canada's not a problem, but you can't go south of the Rio Grande.
You should be happy to keep the miles off you SRT8, you'll spend less in gas, and you can get something that will have a better chance of getting you through Canada.
You need to march into the serice manager's office and tell him that you know you are due a loner, no call Enterprise and have them come pick my A$$ up NOW!!!!!!!!!!!
BlackJeepSRT 01-11-2009, 10:11 AM "Pick Enterprise, they'll pick you up!" ;)
DevssrT 01-11-2009, 03:16 PM WOW buddy...this really is terrible...Id def. go and demand a loaner...its BS that your truck isnt fixed yet and they only ordered one part and not all the correct ones...However, if your younger then 25, depending on the dealer, they might not give YOU a loaner persay, but maybe your parents?

This is EXACTLY what the problem is and Murf is 100% right about the priority and how it works...and as every has said, its out of the dealers control so even though they are supposed to represent Chrysler, they can only do so much for ya...good luck...
Harrison@Stage6 01-15-2009, 03:48 PM They did that when I bought my Harley Edition F-250. I had one of the first few in Florida when they first came out and they had to pull a new FICM wire harness from the assembly line for me. Made me feel kinda cool. I had the part though in a few days though:( vs. you're ordeal. I hope you get it soon bro. I HATE being w/o my Jeep. It was HELL for me when my Jeep was in the shop for a month getting my hail damage fixed.
Get$$$Man 01-15-2009, 05:45 PM Its funny the dam service manager calls me everyday to tell me that the part still isnt in.
Get$$$Man 01-19-2009, 11:31 PM Tomorrow is the day lets see if I get my truck back tomorrow. Even if i get it back I gotta take it right to get the Duhlers put on. UGH
Crookster777 01-19-2009, 11:33 PM Its funny the dam service manager calls me everyday to tell me that the part still isnt in.
Did they send those parts by foot? Damn.
Get$$$Man 01-19-2009, 11:44 PM Did they send those parts by foot? Damn.
Yeah right? Imagine getting a phone call everyday from the dealer telling you that your car isnt ready yet. They THINK that's good customer service making up for their slow parts but NO ITS NOT just makes me angrier.
Vinnysrt8 01-20-2009, 05:40 AM Wow that is taking a long time.
