Tonight I had some fun around South Jersey tonight. There are some perfect loooong stretches of highway down here that are flat, have stoplights about every 2 miles, and you can usually find some good "competition".

While going head to head with an F150 Lighting (the "newer" blown versions) I slapped the auto-stick down into 3rd, then again into 2nd gear. We were crusing at about 35mph next to eachother. The road was clear and it was safe to run. He got the jump on me but I held it in 2nd, full WOT. I was holding on for dear life, it felt like I was on 3 wheels LOL! In my death grip holding on to the wheel I forgot to slap the stick to upshift, but instead stared at the Tach like an idiot waiting for my Jeep to essssplode. But alas, it didn't! It revved into the red line (around 6300rpm or so), and auto-upshifted into 3rd!! Needless to say, I pulled on the SVT Lightening almost a full car length! But DAMN guys.... those trucks are fast. For a second I didn't think I was going to pull on him at all.

We pulled off into a parking lot and checked out eachothers rides. He loved the SRT8 and I was admiring his pickup equally. I'm sad Ford stopped producing the lightenings....

Does that auto-upshift sound about right to you guys? I thought there was an issue with them not upshifting. I have not had my TCM flashed at all.

The 07's will auto upshift at redline while in auto stick mode. The 06's do not auto upshift while in auto stick mode unless it has had the new TCM flash done.

all but the 300C will upshift for you...
crossfire, cherokee, charger, magnum...
really was nice to have on the crossfire around laguna seca...
all you had to do was downshift into 2nd in the turns...
and stomp on it out of em' and it would go to redline and shift for you...
nice little feature that I wish we had on our 300C SRT's...
Nice KILL!!!

i think an AutoStick that upshifts automatically is the most ridiculous thing i've ever heard of. the whole point is to try to simulate manual transmission characteristics.

why not just leave it in "D" then?

the difference between D and auto stick is that in autostick the automatic shifting only happens at redline - in D mode shifting will only shift at redline at wide open throttle, or close to it - in other words, the shift point in D mode depends on the amount of gas you apply...

Just think of it as a safeguard. It will let you do everything you want to do while emulating a manual trans. The only difference is that it will not let you hit the rev limiter.

I have a 2006 SRT-8.
On two occasions, with the trans in manual mode, I got into the rev limiter before I shifted up, and in both cases something in the system shut the engine down to idle, and it felt like it was coasting in neutral.
In one instance, this happened as I was passing cars on a mountian road with on-coming traffic.
Not a great situation.
I was lucky to complete the pass (had enough speed built up before it shut down), but had to coast to the side of the road, needless to say, embarrased, as the cars I had just passed went on by.

When this happened a second time the other day, even though in a less threatening situation, I decided to have my local Jeep dealer see about reflashing the the trans program.
They did this, and now if I miss the up-shift, which I have done deliberately, it happens autonmatically.
If you have a similar experience, I think that you would agree that this is a good thing.

??? All the SRT8's are the same, pre-Flash none of them performed the redline shift in manual mode, post-Flash they all do including the 300C SRT8.
