I was always wondering if this picture bordered false advertising. The jeep srt-8 featured in the dealer brosure & manual seems to have chrome rims

I was always wondering if this picture bordered false advertising. The jeep srt-8 featured in the dealer brosure & manual seems to have chrome rimsWhoever photographed the truck most likely "enhanced" the contrast in editing thereby giving the photo more "pop" and creating the chrome-like effect. I personally prefer polished wheels over chrome by a huge margin.

actually, they do look like that when they are clean with a little polish/wax.

The problem is that they are always covered in layers of dust. rarely do you seen a srt on the road with clean rims

Mine are now on my wife's commander, and they stay much cleaner, and yes, with abit of polish, they do pop almost like chrome. I may still have them chromed though. I much prefer the ease of cleaning chrome to polish.

don't forget the polished aluminum is CLEARCOATED so basically I've found you should treat the rims as you do your paint. At first I didn't realize they were clearcoated and by using aluminum polish I caused hazing/swirlmarks which then took some time to buff out.

You are correct... sorry, I don't use an abrasive polish. I use a paint polish. The one I use is from Adam's Polishes.

This world can be so fake sometimes. You buy a new Jeep and it doesn't look as nice as in the photos. You pick up a date you met on the internet, and she doesn't look as good as her photo. Then you go to a TGIF's and order a pictured item. You notice it doesn't look as good as the picture.

Well, If I have a day like that, before I walk in the door to my home, I look under the hood of my Jeep. That always looks good :)
