: Going in for first service (need help)
NitroCrzy 01-19-2007, 07:16 AM Hi Guys,
I was hoping everyone could help me put together a list of needed TSB's. There are many things that I have heard about and would like suggestions or links to any needed items. The first thing on my list is the leaking tranny. Plus I need to get the reverse tilt mirror enabled.
Thanks in advance
:)
omegaman 01-19-2007, 07:23 AM Some people om the forum are good at pulling up the old links for those discussions but I'm not so I'd suggest just using the search function - you'll find everything you need that way. Or you can wait for someone to post all the links.
NitroCrzy 01-19-2007, 02:33 PM For some reason I'm getting errors when I try the search or even to check new posts..... grrrr... I knew I should have bookmarked. I go in tomorrow....
omegaman 01-19-2007, 02:42 PM Odd. Me too.

NitroCrzy 01-19-2007, 02:55 PM in my panic I went over to the blue site (www.***********)... anyway here are some of the ones I need... any someone see's I'm missing?
GC SRT8 6000 mile check-up/service
I’m getting ready to take my Inferno Red CG SRT8 to the dealer for its 6000 mile maintenance. I performed the 1st oil change at 3000 miles, so this the first time the CG has been to the dealer for service. I’m going with the Service Interval B (Heavy) and would like to perform whatever maintenance I can, while still abiding by all factory warranty requirements. My intent is to perform all oil changes at 3000 mile intervals, but to take the GC into the dealer for the more involved maintenance periods (for example, the 15,000 and 30,000 mile type maintenance periods that include axles, transmission, brakes..). Does anyone know if by performing some of the scheduled maintenance myself, I will in anyway void the factory warranties?
During the three months that I’ve had my GC SRT8 I’ve experienced the following problems (nothing major) and would like the dealer to address them:
TSB 24-006-06 (08/09/06) A/C COOLING COIL ODOR (supersedes 24-013-05)
TSB 23-039-05 (08/24/05) LOWER DOOR HINGE - MAY CAUSE A CHIRP, SQUEAK, OR GROAN-LIKE SOUND
TSB 23-008-06 (02/11/06) FRONT DOOR GLASS - LOOSE, STICKS, BINDS, MOAN-LIKE SOUND, OR EXPRESS-UP REVERSAL
I have experienced some wind noise from my windshield – nothing really loud – I’m not sure if it warrants the TSB fix, but I’ll get it done anyway.
TSB 23-031-06 (07/27/06) WINDSHIELD HEADER BUZZ OR HUMMING SOUND
I’ve also experienced the following non TSB issues:
Fascia paint peeling in the area of the driver’s side fog light (Inferno Red color).
• I understand that this is a common problem, but I could not find an associated TSB.
“Auto tilt in reverse" for the side mirrors feature programmed/implemented.
• Here are the DRB directions (Thanks Milous):
1. Go to the FCM screen
2. Select "ECU Details"
3. Select "More Options"
4. Mirror tilt function is at the bottom of the list
Missing Bright pedals.
• My CG did not come with the Bright Pedals installed (nor were they even in a box in the CG), so they had to be ordered (no charge to me) – now I need them installed (which I understand is quite easy to do).
Curiously, I’ve had no issues with the following TSBs common to some of the CG SRT8s:
TSB 21-005-06 (03/09/06) DRIVELINE NOISE DURING MODERATE TO HIGH THROTTLE ACCELERATION (SRT8)
TSB 21-007-06 (04/07/06) RFE TRANSMISSION FILTERS - DELAYED ENGAGEMENT AND RELATED TRANSMISSION DTC'S
TSB 11-001-06 (02/04/06) RATTLE SOUND/VIBRATION DURING AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATION
My CG SRT8 has a build date of May 24, 2006 and may have benefited from some of these TSBs developed for the earlier production CG SRT8s.
Additionally, I’ve been getting about 12-13 mpg on average (13.5-14 mpg on the freeway – 12.5-13 mpg in the city). I’ve experienced no major oil burning issues (I was about ¾ of a quart low at the 3000 mile oil change).
If anyone knows of any other upgrades/fixes that the dealer should perform during this visit, or has any additional complaints that they are experiencing, please pass them on.
saywhat 01-19-2007, 08:12 PM The TCM for the tran. Its a must have, It's like driving a different SRT.
HoustonSRT-8 01-21-2007, 04:37 PM Does anyone have any info on the cause or fix for TSB 21-005-06 & 11-001-06?

There are no TSB's for these yet, but you could always mention them to the dealer: squeeky brakes/gouged rotors, cloudy coolant fluid, & assorted rattles. The quickest way to get something done about the peeling paint is to take your own digital pics(you need pics of your VIN get both the dash & dr door sticker & the peeling paint) I reccomed you take several pics. I'm waiting monthes for feedback from DCX, only to find out they need more pics(they couldn't read the VIN pic that the dealer took).
NitroCrzy 01-21-2007, 09:36 PM Well the service did not go well. First concern:
Dealer does not use Mobile 1 Synthetic (probably not too big a deal because the warranty service book calls for service every 3000 miles).
Unless I give them the specific TSB# they will not follow up on it (IE: none of the TSB's I asked for were applied because I did not have the specific TSB#
Reverse tilt mirror feature did not match my instructions so was not enabled. Worse... the guys replaced my mirrors or ata least one... my service was stalled while they waited for the driver mirror grrr.....
I did complain about an intermittant squeak when turning. The service tech showed me where to spray WD40. grrrr And to think I paid $49,200 for this Jeep. Don't get me wrong... I'm in love with this thing but god help you if you keep me away from it for 2 days and not fix anything. In the end I went down in a panic and asked them not to touch anything until I get there. Showed them where in the menu to actually enable the reverse tilt feature and yelled about not checking and applying all the TSB's that I specifically asked for IE A/C, Trans shift issue, leaky tranny, etc....
I have my baby back and am very pleased with the reverse feature. Had I had this enabled from the beginning I'm sure my rims wouldn't be curb damaged.
Reverse tilt instructions on mine were
“Auto tilt in reverse" for the side mirrors feature programmed/implemented.
• Here are the DRB directions (Thanks Milous):
1. Go to the FCM screen
2. Select "ECU Details"
3. Select "Misc Options"
4. Mirror tilt function is at the bottom of the list

That's crap. It's their job to do the research, not the customer's.
It's odd that the dealer doesn't use M1, but it's not necessary. The TSB for tranny weapage is for '05(even though it's been expirienced by newer GC's), my dealer will not perform any TSB unless I state I have a problem listed in the TSB's for my given year. Your dealer knows what TSB's are out for your GC. Nitro what yr is yours?
NitroCrzy 01-22-2007, 12:04 AM Mine is a '06. I've not heard anything good about the only dealer here and have to say my experiences so far are extreme. At least I hope extreme. When I informed them not to actually replace the mirrors... that what I wanted was simply the "reverse tilt mirror feature" enabled. It was very clear that the language barrier was an issue as well. One of the fun cultural things we deal with here in the middle east. Next service, I will be much better prepared and have the exact TSB for each item I need fixed.
ResumeSpeed 01-23-2007, 03:48 PM Well the service did not go well. First concern:
Dealer does not use Mobile 1 Synthetic...
So what brand/weight oil did they use?
NitroCrzy 01-24-2007, 05:07 AM They used a local branded synthetic. The only thing I have to go on is what they told me they put in it. The service intervals are every 3000 miles (5000k) so it probably doesn't really matter even if it's regular oil. My guess is that they don't trust the local brands ;)
ResumeSpeed 01-24-2007, 05:25 AM They used a local branded synthetic...
What weight?
NitroCrzy 01-24-2007, 05:33 AM I believe they said 20-50.... I'll have to check
