I am not sure if this can be done but I have a theory....
Does the camera automatically display on the screen when it receives power or is it only because of the reverse trigger? Because if it is simply the power, than you should be able to connect a manual toggle switch to send power to the camera instead of it receiving power with the reverse lights. Has any one tried this or have any technical input? I want to try this only if it has potential.
Thanks.

I believe its triggered only when put in reverse. You can get a lockpick and watch dvds and view camera while driving. Cost new I think is around 250 can find used ones for 100-150.

there may be more to it...i had installed an aftermarket Pioneer Avic Z2 that has this capability and was told it could not work with the standard camera...however, now that i am thinkin bout this...i believe it was only due to the fact that the factory camera connections were not the same. i think the tools that did the install just didn't know sheite. if i had had the leisure time like i used to i would have done the install myself. definitely a awesome feature to have IMO. do you know that the factory head unit wil in fact support this yet? i sure hope there isn't some "while in drive" feature guided by the GPS that wouldn't allow it...

Seeing that the Mygig Lockpick and Allgig can get the factory camera to display while driving, I am assuming that the factory deck is ready to go. from what i understand, the Lockpick and Allgig just provide a toggle for a relay (installed separately) to get the camera on while driving. If that's the case then maybe all you need is the relay and your own toggle switch.
I hope someone has tried this or knows more about this subject.
