: Door Rattle From Stock Speakers?
OurZoo 01-16-2007, 11:41 AM Anyone else out there get a rattle from either the speakers or doors depending on how loud and what type of music you are listening to? I understand with some powered subs or something aftermarket you might have some rattles, but not generated from a stock system. Don't they test this crap before its produced? End rant.........:D
Mango 01-16-2007, 12:42 PM YES! Ugghh, I have a rattle on my front passenger side door panel. It seems to be coming from where the Silver panel for the window switch and the door panel meet.
I had the dealer check this when I had it in for an oil change. Of course, it didn't rattle. The service technicians looked at me like I was batsh*t crazy.
kramsay1234 01-16-2007, 02:24 PM Vibration from passenger side door speaker from day 1. Haven't had a chance to take it in yet, but when I do I will be armed with the appropriate music to make it happen.
Strange that many seem to be the same door rattle. Driver side is quiet.

jlandbl 01-16-2007, 02:26 PM no rattles for me from the doors
millers_srt 01-16-2007, 03:24 PM Same rattle in passenger door. I'm gonna mention it went I take it in for oil change, front rotors (which were scored after 1000 miles), and paint/clearcoat bubbles.
Lucky No. 8 01-16-2007, 03:28 PM I've seen a number of posts regarding rattles ... After a couple of months I don't have a single rattle in mine (actually surprised me). My 2000 Durango could have been a play item for an entire country of toddlers.
kramsay1234 01-16-2007, 04:24 PM Just for clarity, it is not so much a rattle as it is a vibration from the volume of the stereo. Seems to be a speaker or speaker cover issue. If the stereo is off, there is no noise.

Mango 01-16-2007, 06:07 PM Same here, my sound only happens during certain points in music. It's more of a resonance induced "buzz" sound coming from the front passenger door.
CayenneEater27 01-16-2007, 08:11 PM Yep, I have it too, front passenger side door...the vibration is from when the music is played at a certain volume with a certain amount of bass...frickin annoying.

Exactly what happens!
lincoln 01-16-2007, 10:10 PM I have it in both doors and it's been "fixed" twice by the dealer :) I also have many rattles that have been fixed successfully once and most came back quickly. It's hopeless and I'm selling it as soon as I find it's replacement just because I cannot live with a vehicle that rattles this badly and is this poorly designed. Overall I like it, it's a hoot to drive and have had no other problems or reliability issues. I stopped using it as my daily driver last week and went back to driving my 99 Chevy truck which has 113K miles and virtually NO rattles.
kramsay1234 02-21-2007, 11:06 PM Any body find the source of this rattle/vibration yet?

OurZoo 02-21-2007, 11:16 PM I haven't heard anything else on this topic, but this bugs me more than anything! I realize I'm going from a multiple thousand dollar system in my XUV to a stock system, but I shouldn't have a vibration from the stock speakers at such a low volume. A few of the local guys over in my area told me they don't have this problem??? Hmmmmmm. At least 6 of us are meeting up this weekend with a whole bunch of other LX guys so I plan on listening to people stereos and probably filing a complaint next week. I would imagine the majority of us have this problem and they definitely need to do something about it.
kramsay1234 02-21-2007, 11:22 PM What bothers me is that while replacing my door lock mechanism on the passenger side that broke during my billet door pin debacle, we checked for the rattle and discovered that the metal clip that the center screw that holds the door panel on was not secured by anything and rattles away like crazy if you bang on the door skin. We used some urethane to secure this clip, banged on the door again and the rattle was gone. Thought for sure we had it. Put the door back together, and turned on most noticeable song and rattle rattle, buzz buzz just like before. Pissed me right off.
We also checked the actual speaker to see if it was secured well and it seemed fine. Going to have to try again unless someone finds it first.

OurZoo 02-21-2007, 11:29 PM That sux! Mine even rattle with dialogue and no music at the right volume. Ughh!
i also suffer from a passenger side door rattle with bassy music. figure its the speaker. will have the dealer check it out when i get in for the TCM flash.
jlandbl 02-22-2007, 06:10 AM Are you sure it's not a blown speaker?
kramsay1234 02-22-2007, 07:33 AM not positive, but have had this buzzing since day 1 as have other members. Will be in for oil change shortly and at that point will have it looked at again. Blown speaker would normally be a more obnoxious sound, but not ruling it out.

OurZoo 02-22-2007, 09:37 AM I've also had this since day one. It's almost as obnoxious as a blown speaker, so I don't think it's actually blown. I don't have any rattles on my Charger stock system? That one is made by Kicker though which comes with a 10" sub.
BlackedOut 02-22-2007, 11:08 AM I have it from the passenger door also. didnt have it from day one but did after 2000 miles so i thought it was a blown speaker. Had the dealer replace the speaker at the first oil change and was excited to get in and not hear the rattle but sure enough it was still there. Has to be something inside the door, now i just have to find out wht it is...

I have the same problem, buzzing sound coming from the passenger side door speaker. I took it in for an oil change and had them look at it, they said it was a bad speaker. They replaced it, took off from the dealership, and the "buzzing" was still there. What gives? I'll take it back next week.

My dealer damped the door panels with some insulation material from DCX. It fixed the drivers side but not the passenger side (it did help). My drivers door panel is back to rattling all the time but not from the stereo. The non-speaker related rattles in mine are not loud at all but they drive me nuts.
Mad Max SRT 04-03-2007, 10:05 AM After much investigation I found my buzz comes from the plastic garage door opener piece right by the rear view mirror. It only buzzes while playing music (loud) with lots of bass, but its still annoying.
kramsay1234 04-03-2007, 01:49 PM will look into that. I am still sure mine is coming from the passenger door panel, but sometimes you never know with buzzing rattles...
