: Happy and sad...
AlexT 01-15-2007, 04:46 PM New here, tell me I did the right thing!
I just traded my beloved 2004 M3 in on a new black GC SRT8. Just needed something more practical (but hopefully close to as much fun to drive).
Looking forward to hanging out with you folks in the future.

Black_SRT8 01-15-2007, 04:58 PM Nothing can compare to beating an M3 with an SUV. Welcome to the board!

AlexT 01-15-2007, 05:39 PM So are there any software updates, or any other things I should get the dealer to look at before I pick it up on Thursday?

Alex.....welcome man. When I got my GC last January, faced the same choice. Finally said the Hell with it, kept the M also. As you get used to the "brick" you will find it is as much fun to drive. Can't throw it around as much as the M with DSC off, (no drifting etc.) and a completely different feel through the power band, BUT this puppy will rock your world on a daily basis.
I've never tired of driving either of them. Got about 31k on the M, and already 24k on the Jeep. You can learn some good stuff here from a great bunch of guys.
Consider myself one of the lucky ones.....Have not had a problem with either one of them. Good luck with yours, any question, search, or just ask away.

kramsay1234 01-15-2007, 08:52 PM I sold my S4 (M3 eater) before I got the Jeep. Loved my car and had some sellers remorse until the Jeep arrived. Your M3 is a great vehicle, but change is great. No regrets. Maybe you will come across the new owner of your old car and have some fun at a light.
Welcome.

TT C6 01-18-2007, 02:37 PM I SMOKED a M3 with a stock SRT Jeep at light after light this summer.
You not only got more utility with the SRT,
you got more performance too!
Congtrats.
slvr 8 01-18-2007, 06:38 PM I briefly sat in a Jeep SRT8 and (compared to the M3) in the lowest setting the seating position seemed high. Did you find that to be a problem when switching from the M3

It is a bit higher, but the seating position is just plain different. The seat itself is surprisingly supportive, although at this point I think the M3 seat fit me a little better. That may change with time.
With the adjustable pedals, I've been able to find a position in the GC that I'm comfortable with. Now if only it had a telescoping wheel....
The GC SRT8 and the M3 are completely different. This beast is a blast to drive in different ways then the M3 was, but I've had a silly grin on my face all day long. So far, I'm very happy with my decision.

kramsay1234 01-21-2007, 11:27 PM good to hear. and we can always use more pics of black SRT8's since this is everyone's favorite colour...;)
