yeah, they were (sounds like still are) a pretty major problem with the CTS-Vs

I am guessing that nitrous is the chief mod, because the supercharger is stock on the CTS-V, right?

no the supercharger is not stock..

It's a Magnuson supercharger. What pulley are you running?

BTW, you're damn lucky you're still on your first diff. Mine went when my car was stock. I've got almost a year on the 2nd one...and that's with the Magnuson S/C running the 2.8 pulley. This diff is whining like it wants to go anytime soon!

That's pretty sick ... how much did you pay for the car, what year is it, and how much did all the mods cost you?

Your post has gotten me seriously interested in building up a CTS-V for myself :)

The STS-V and XLR-V have the supercharged Northstar (4.4L I think) from the factory. The '04 and '05 CTS-V's have the 5.7L LS6 motor out of the previous ZO6 Vette and the '06/'07s have the 6.0L LS2 out of the current Vette (non-ZO6).

and which engine would you say would be more mod-friendly, and get the most torque and hp out of?

Im thinking the Northstar would be really beefy and deep, with amazing torque when modded?

I'd vote for the LS line of engines... tons of parts out there..

Yes, the LSx engines respond extremely well to mods. And as MatFab said, there are a TON of mod options out there simply because the LSx has been used in so many platforms in recent years.
