: Block Heater Cord .. .. ..
wizardofnos 12-22-2008, 06:17 AM Ok, I already feel like a moron for having to post this, but does anyone know exactly where the block heater cord is ?
I've hunted high n low and it's probably staring me right in the face.
wizardofnos 12-22-2008, 06:24 AM Well .. .. .. Of course. Only after I post the thread I see the similar threads below.
I think I have a pretty good idea where to look, thanks guys.
BlackFlie 12-22-2008, 09:46 AM did you find it?
Ive not looked yet, but if you did... save me some time
:)
lol
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 12-22-2008, 10:02 AM there's the possibility that you don't have one....did you get the option for it?
promo718 12-22-2008, 10:06 AM i have the option and i've tried finding it a few times in the last 2+ years. i read every thread here. some say it's on the driver's side close to the fuse boxes, some say it's on the passenger side next to the firewall.
wherever it is, i haven't found it yet. and while i don't live in alaska and will probably never need to use it, i would like to goddamn know where this cord is i paid $40 for.
damnit.
08srt8Calgary 12-22-2008, 12:15 PM You'll find it on the passanger side, tucked under the plastic valve cover, wrapped and tied with a twist tie. I found mine instantly last year, and have assisted with three other chrysler vehicles at work this year- and they are all in the exact same spot.
promo718 12-22-2008, 12:23 PM ^^ i'm gonna check tonight.
Baker 12-22-2008, 01:20 PM I just found mine tied up under the passenger side plastic valve cover also.
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 12-22-2008, 01:53 PM i have the option and i've tried finding it a few times in the last 2+ years. i read every thread here. some say it's on the driver's side close to the fuse boxes, some say it's on the passenger side next to the firewall.

mine is toward the back of the engine on the driver's side. it is close to the firewall.
kokanee13 12-22-2008, 01:55 PM I was told they don't make a block heater for the 6.1?
wizardofnos 12-23-2008, 10:29 AM Yes, I did find it.
Turns out all Canadian SRT Cherokee's are factory equipped with Block heaters.
Under the hood, passenger side, gently but firmly lift the black cosmetic cover.
look towards the middle of the valve cover and there should be a nice neat black
cord just sitting on top of the coils. Have a pair of wire cutters handy for the zip tie.
The cord is about 24" in length, so it won't reach the front of your SRT, so I just neatly
ran it to the passenger side of the windshield right beside hood hinge.
Once it warms up a tad outside, I would suggest running an extension cord to where ever
you decide you want the block heater plug to be permanently to avoid future frustration.
kokanee13 12-23-2008, 11:45 AM No ****! I going to kill my dealer! It's been -35 for 2 weeks and I've had a block heater all along.
ResumeSpeed 01-09-2009, 08:54 PM I was told they don't make a block heater for the 6.1?
From factory, or you can buy the Mopar accessory, or you can simply buy the cord and heater via parts.
I just installed one in my Jeep last night. A total pita but I wanted the option so ordered up the parts and installed it. Had to remove the front wheel, fender liner (partial) and starter, and it is still a very tight fit as the exhaust pipe is also in the way.
Parts:
Mopar Engine Block Heater kit 82208937 MSRP $73.20
or Mopar parts:
1 Ea. 56044577AB Cord, MSRP $38.75
1 Ea. 5149055AA Heater, engine block, MSRP $40.05
1 Ea. 6501373 Screw, MSRP $3.65

kokanee13 01-09-2009, 10:21 PM god i hate my dealer!
ResumeSpeed 01-09-2009, 10:53 PM god i hate my dealer!
......Why?
kokanee13 01-10-2009, 03:07 AM Because he told me that it did not come with one, and there was no way I could get one. They just didn't make them for the SRT. My own fault for thinking that they new anything about what they are selling!
scoutermike 01-10-2009, 11:12 PM As far as I know, every vehicle built for the Canadian market has a block heater installed as factory equipment.
jdoc7 01-12-2009, 01:44 PM I have a block heater and my cord is on the passenger side firewall. It's gray though, not black.
kokanee13 01-12-2009, 03:19 PM You would think the dealer would know that eh!
Especially a dealer in Alberta that sees -35 yearly. Which dealer? :)
kokanee13 01-14-2009, 11:26 PM Williams Chrysler in Ft Mcmurray!
FortMacSrt8 11-18-2010, 02:04 PM kokanee13, did you ever find your block heater cord? I also live in Fort Mac and am having problems finding mine. Any help would be great as it is starting to get colder!!
Newfiebullet 11-18-2010, 02:10 PM Mine was on the drivers side, if you want Fortmacsrt8 we can meet up and help you find it.
Newfie.

Here ya go. :D
CanuckGCSRT8 11-30-2010, 01:01 PM Found mine on my 08 under the cover on the passenger side. Never been used. I can't believe it's 12" short to reach the front. I know times are tough but come on Chrysler....
Good plan on running it over to the passenger side door hinge area.
Toxicmegacolon 12-11-2010, 05:19 PM I have looked on both the passenger and driver side under the hood in my 2010 GCSRT8 and can not find the block heater cord?! Am I missing something here? Does anyone with a 2010 GCSRT8 here have an idea? Thanks

Did you look under the passenger side plastic valve cover? The one with 6.1 Hemi on it?
