: jeep dealer scratched my rim :(
jordo9998 01-12-2007, 02:21 PM well,
took my jeep in for a few problems...
my breaks were makin some noise and they said brembo uses matalic pad's which will make noise... they didn't even offer to replace them.. I told them to be easy on the caliper bolts as they can chip if you use a impact gun to remove them.. they must be taken off by hand tools... they stripped the paint off the screws which I pointed out when I picked my car up, they will be replacing them...
They scratched my rim, they guy said they could do something like lightly sand the rim and then polish it... but if they are just going to mess with it and they no nothing about rim repair, I don't want them to touch it.. I want a rim guy to fix it. what do you guys think?
I just don't want them making it look worse. otherwise I will make them replace the rim all together...
They did manage to fix one thing.. the re flash for my tcm which works much better than before...
the sad thing is the dealer i got my car from and that does service for me is the #1 jeep dealer in the country. It's here in Michigan.
what do you guys think about the rim, do you guys think if they smooth it out and polish it like the guy said it will fix it, or does it need a different kind of prosses to fix it?
OurZoo 01-12-2007, 09:26 PM Rim shop or new rim if they are just going to wing it.......
idealrides 01-12-2007, 11:10 PM i bought a used SRT rim off ebay for cheap because it has some minor damage and i cleaned it up myself in a few minutes with a dremel and now you basically can't see the damage. what they SHOULD do is send it off to be repaired professionally but my point is if they try to fix it themselves they can't really screw it up, it's probably going to look much better than it does now, and you can always demand they send it off if they don't fix it to your satisfaction.

That bites! Just remember, there are very few personal problems in life that can't be resolved through a suitable application of high-explosives!!!
jordo9998 01-13-2007, 09:29 AM LOL
the guy was like it's no problem we can do something so you won't be able to see it and polish it out, but you guys are right.
I'm going to demand that he send it to rim repair and not toy with my car...
because if I get it back and it looks like %^&%^ i'm going to MAKE them give me a brand new rim, and if i'm going to be in a bad mood that day ill make sure they throw in a free tire too!!

You could try some of those new STEROID FROSTED FLAKES early in the morning, you know, the breakfast of choice by MLB players, I hear "THERE GREAT". That sould do the trick. I'll bet they will give into any demands, especially if you throw that rim across the service dept. like a high fastball.:D

jordo9998 01-28-2007, 11:47 AM Just an update on the rim.
My dealer replaced my front right side brembo caliper as they scratched my old one's.. i had to get intouch with the owner just to get them to do it...
As for my rim, they didn't give me much BS to get it repaired.. It only cost them $100 bucks, A local guy came and picked the rim up, 5 hours later he returned it and I must say, he did a perfect job.
kramsay1234 01-28-2007, 11:54 AM Good to hear its back looking new and ready for the next scrape.
