I heard that the '08s will have a telescopic steering column. Has anybody else heard this? If it's true, I may wait another year to get mine.

Yes, 100% true. It will be manual though and not electric. You can check out all of the 2008 features at this link, quite a few new goodies: http://www.wkjeeps.com/future_jeeps.htm

There was some "new for 2007" stuff listed on wkjeeps last year that never actually made it onto the 2007's. Just saying, don't count on it till they hit the lots.

The only "feature" listed that did not end up appearing was the "soft-touch instrument panel/panel hood". Everything else proved dead accurate (back-up camera, remote start, active turn signals, side airbags being made standard, tailight changes, window switch redesign, fuel tank size increase, interior and exterior colors, and many more items for the non-SRT models).

The "soft-touch" feature was postponed at the last minute by Jeep, and was in fact listed in the original preliminary 2007 model information sent to dealers (which I have a copy of). Some "soft touch" features ended up being used on the export model Grand Cherokees but not on the North American models.

I've been following the Jeep "Future" section for 5 or 6 years now (WJ and WK models), the information has been 99% accurate, there is no better source for advance info, and no one else anywhere that gets it so far in advance.

But would you have to push really hard, or pull really hard for espresso?
If you have to push for that, I'll pass. I'm a puller kind of a driver :p

As far as anti aircraft missiles, where you been bro? With this Jeep, you point and then shoot. It will get there, you know.

Don't forget the anti-missle defense system, it can shoot down multiple targets fired from TBSS owners and ricers. :p

Why do some of you have to be a$$holes in this guys thread?

If you don't have anything positive to contribute,
can you please just move on to another thread.

I'm not questioning wkjeeps, the site is one of our best resources, it's Jeep that I worry about. They promised the interior upgrades in 2007, some guys passed on EP pricing just to get the interior upgrades, and at the last minute Jeep took them away. I just don't want guys passing up a good deal to wait for a feature that may never materialize.

Relax man.....are you the self appointed "thread Police" now? Five of the first nine did contribute some good info. I wouldn't call your post, #9 particularly positive. Didn't see the original poster calling anyone an ahole. You could always take your own advice you know......just move the Hell on.

Whoops....better contribute something here.

Yeah, tilt/telescoping would be nice feature, especially for those rides with multiple drivers. Damn, I feel better now!!!

If I knew for sure it was coming in '08, I'd wait for it. I'm 6'6", and need the seat as far back as possible to get my legs in, but then kind of have to reach a little foward to hold the wheel. The few inches a telescopic steering column would move would make a huge difference to me, so if anyone hears for sure, I'd like to know.

Lots of leg room in the inside for the driver, + Chrysler has the best adjustable pedals around,, They have a wide range of movement,, unlike the TB SS. the TB SS hardly moves at all.. If you havent looked and driven, You should!!

WOOOah, just like the thread; "winnings' not everything"; let's all lighten up. I agree, some of the sarcasim is GREAT and funny. But, some folks leave their sense of humor at the door too and can't take it. Listen, there have been some great knowledge shared from some very sophisticated SRT/8 GC owners that everyone I am sure has benefitted from in one way or the other on this site. AND, I got better things to do (like drive my beast) then be a thread cop, however, whe we start saying a-hol to one another, we bringing this up to another level of dialouge, and no-one gains. Now, it is up to the site admim folks to play referee, if they wish. Me, I have thick skin and can take sarcasim as well a a little ball-bustin. But, when I am readin a pretty cool thread and all of a sudden it turns 180 degree around to bashin, it is a waste of time. Trust me, I take my own advice and use it. Meaning, you can bash my response and I will have a laugh, but are any of us getting a real benefit from that??

For a real dose of b@all-bustin', name callin', and general depravity, check out Anything Goes on viperalley.com...definitely NOT for the thin-skinned! It makes what goes on here look...well, friendly!

It's for sure, I've seen engineering documents. It will be standard equipment across the lineup - Laredo, Limited, Overland and the SRT8. Same with the Commander, standard on all models.

The '07's weren't out until ~10/06. MyGig should by available in '08, price may go up a bit. '10 may see a 6.4L.
I think there is a rocket powered one in the future too. :D

Oh, & I like to laugh. Plus I contributed to the thread, so TT what else should I do?

Current schedule says production of 2008 models will start in July/August, arriving to dealers in September. However, there has been some rumors that they may launch a little early, will probaly know for sure by April.

Thanx for the response RS...I wil def wait for the '08 then.
I have a few other Q's for you...
All of my previous and current cars were euro so i could order them to spec and wait out 3-4 mo for delivery, does the same apply to the SRT8? I know it might sound dumb, but i just don't know...
Also how long does the process (on average) take-from order input to delivery?
Is it true that the current silver color will be discontinued?

I have not seen any info about discontinuing silver, it's about 25% of sales so I'm sure they will keep it around, or if not something very similar.

Delivery times vary all over the place, from a couple months to longer. SRT8 are allocated to dealers and some dealers get more than others. Many dealers will take deposits and tell you a short arrival time just to get your business, then they will have excuses as to why it is taking so long as the weeks and months pass. You need to find a dealer you can trust.

Options will be broken into three main groups for 2008 (instead of the current two), SRTI, SRTII and SRTIII. I do not have the breakouts of what is in the packages but looks like buyers will have a few more variables in choosing options.
