I took my GCSRT8 to Executive Jeep in North Haven yesterday for servicing. They fixed a water leak from the roof rack I had put on, and they did an oil change.
My question is, they put 3 miles on the Jeep. Is it normal to take the vehicle out for a run after an oil change? In my opinion, no. Same thing for the water leak; I don't see a reason to take it out for a test drive. Perhaps I'm unaware of something?
I'm not sure how to handle this, so any input would be helpful.

No need to test drive it. I would contact the owner of the dealer. Forget the manager go to the top. Does your receipt show mileage in and mileage out and the 3 mile difference? If not, your best time to have addressed this would have been before you left the dealer. Good luck.

The paperwork is in the truck and my wife has it for the day, so I don't know if it shows the mileage out.
I must say I'd be mighty disappointed if all they did is take it out for a joy ride. Cripes, don't dealers understand what things like this do to their reputation?? :(

So...I spoke with the Service Manager. He said they test drive ALL vehicles that come in for service, quoting liability reasons. I guess too many people were coming back and saying things like " it didn't pull to the left before I brought it in", etc. I didn't even mention the huge liability/wrath issue they'd face if my SRT got wrecked on the test drive...
Lesson learned. I'll be requesting "no test drives" for now on when it goes in for service.
Just thinking out loud...does anyone know of a systems recorder/video camera available for vehicles?

This happened to me once with my Lincoln Aviator. I took it in for routine maintenance and I get the car back and the sun roof is open and my gas tank is almost empty, and I had half a tank. Luckily I always document my mileage before I go into the dealer and have them sign off on it. And the retard service guy that took my Aviator for a joy ride got his ass **** canned. And I ended up getting some free oil changes from the incident. Customer Beware!!! :)

I took my Corvette in for an alignment and when I got it back it had 14 more miles on it. I was not happy and the SA said I must have put the wrong mileage down when I brought it in. Needless to say but that was the last time I took it to that Dealership.
