: Here's why I love my GC SRT8.....
jlandbl 01-08-2007, 11:58 AM - Smokin 0-60
- Sweet exhaust note
- Looks hot
- Handles like a sports car
- Turns heads during WOT
- All of the above and still room for the family
What am I missing?
timster 01-08-2007, 12:01 PM those are the exact reasons why I bought mine - not because I was interested in having an interior comparable to a BMW porsche or MB
I guess also of note is the 4 wheel drive, and the fact that it is quicker off the line than most autos at the light
split2112 01-08-2007, 12:02 PM great price
Lucky No. 8 01-08-2007, 12:05 PM - Tons of looks/comments at the car wash & gas stations
- Scary fast out of the hole (ok, this is a repeat … but is worth repeating)
- My first North American vehicle with no rattles
- The whole wet or dry traction thing
maf1960 01-08-2007, 12:10 PM I agree with everything. PLUS, it is all that AND a bag of chips! - lol
Ok-- it's a silly reason, but I love it when my wife looks good driving a car.... and she looks really good behind the wheel of the SRT :)
BuilderBill 01-08-2007, 12:28 PM I love my fresh SRT 8, but, my wife takes it for her real estate showing and her customers love the thing!
When in the post office or even Autozone, I come out and people are looking it over, one group was betting on weather or not it was a jeep! (debadged of course). I don't remember those looks and comments on my black SL 500. Yes, our interior may not be as plush as the Mercedes or even the Jeep Overland I traded in, but this thing is fun!
I wonder if anyone has looked at a '06 or '07 Overland for interior upgrading ours? I looked in Charlotte and Ft. Mill, SC and the Overlands are rare here.
Bill
kman999 01-08-2007, 12:57 PM best bang for the buck.
plus seeing peoples eyes squint when they get the glare off those shiny 20's in the sunshine :)
Bill,
Crazy enough.... I've had my Jeep since April, and I have still not seen but one on the road. I live in Seattle, but the one I saw was pulling into the Harris Teeter on Ballantyne Commons, back in July. It was black.... could it have been you?

You can't say something like that and not post a photo!
We demand pictures of women driving SRT8s!!!!!

First, TY jland for starting a positive thread about our SRT8's. For me this is another GC/Mopar that I love mostly because it fits the DD bill while being an AWD muscle machine. I thought about other SRT's, but the AWD is the kicker here in the north. I like knowing that no other SUV can touch us, & few other DD can either. This thing is just fun, I sometimes feel sorry for those driving boring vehicles... then again not really. :D
Ink Pump 01-08-2007, 01:45 PM Yes I agree with all those comments and when you have the RED one it gets even better!;)
I don't have any pics of her behind the wheel.
But here is the wife, daughter (middle) and cousin (right)

BuilderBill 01-08-2007, 02:49 PM ge2,
Great family photo!!
No it was not me on Ballantyne Commons this summer. I took delivery in mid December. I have seen another black SRT 8 at my club, Piper Glen this summer. Figures! Another black one.
Let me know if you are going to be around this area again.
You've got a great vehicle, sorry for coping your slotted / driiled rotor.
Bill
Not to worry at all.
And I'm in NC usually 3-4 times per year. My sister lives on the 18th at Ballantyne, and we go down to stay and let the kiddos play. I will keep you posted :)
drove mine from reno to vegas and back again for new years with 4 friends and all our **** in the back
maybe we did the mapquested route of 8 hours 50 minutes in 5 hours 30 minutes
might have gotten a hilarious "WHAT THE **** IS THAT THING?" from a civic that might've been passed at 135mph while it was doing 100
it sure as hell turned heads on the strip, considering the bentleys and rolls that frequent the area it was pretty surprising. while i didn't envy my friend in the middle, no one *****ed much and they had a movie to watch while they weren't watching to see how high the speedo would go into the triple digits
i also got 14.2mpg. very good considering the speeds, weight, and constant acceleration and deceleration of passing and slowing for suspicious cop like cars
im very happy with my purchase.
kramsay1234 01-08-2007, 03:31 PM Great thread. I love that no one yet has told me it looks anything but awesome. Also, I have had compliments on the way the interior looks and no one except us on this site has made mention of a lack of leather or more plush interior.
I know people that don't like the look of many of other SUV's, including the German ones. That is not to take anything away from those vehicles, but who has heard anyone say they don't like the look of the SRT Jeep? I had a guy last night drooling over it because he couldn't wait and got a Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. All he kept saying is..."I should have waited"
If they were perfect though, what would we all talk about?

i love the looks i get from people driving overlands
GodfatherSRT8 01-08-2007, 04:02 PM I loved it when I took my beast in for the tire recall at goodyear this past week, and while sitting in their waiting area with a few other customers, the service manager walks in our general direction and asks if he can pop the hood to see the engine. Here is the best part. The guy next me had a Porsche Cayanne Turbo there also for some tires and says "Sure you can its a Cayanne turbo" and the manager says "Sorry I was talking about the Jeep SRT."

Hah ... I had mine in before Christmas for winter rubber and the owner of the joint asked if he could take it for a ride. When I semi-retire at (age to be determined at a future date) I might just buy one of these franchises; seem the folks there have a lot of fun !!

On that note, its time to go for a drive. ;)

I also love the AWD, the 180mph speedo, the seats, the sat radio, the rims, looking at the engine, the center mounted dual fighter jet exhaust, the lowered height, the deleted roof rails, and the stopping power. Maybe I should have just scanned the window sticker.

This interior is INCREDIBLE and pretty damn close to the MB and BMW.
EXPECIALLY, for $40k.

I hope it becomes available.
