At long last Mopar has released a direct wire, non fm-modulated Ipod integration kit. This system retains SAT and VES functions as well as steering wheel controls! The part is vendor shipped direct (VSD) and retails for roughly $215.00. Mopar part #82209617.

Nice, but why can't anything work 100%? If you keep reading the posts on the forum link above, it appears that every time you hook up your iPod it deletes all your Sirius presets. This alone would keep me from buying it.

I agree that's irritating as hell, but everything else that does work correctly will probably make me go out and buy it. We'll see. The mod budget aint as plentiful as it used to be. Right now I have the "redoing all the floors" in the house budget as well as the upcoming baby budget.

Does the iPod kit show artist and track info on the REC navigation radios LCD screen? Or does it just allow control of the iPod? I would hope it actually displays the current track info, etc...

It does display artist info etc. and is controllable through steering wheel controls.
The interface is a bit crappy though, song stops playing when you are looking for another, Shuffle doesn't seem to work?
Definately not perfect but better than fm modulation or going in through the DVD in the back.

Losing the SAT presets makes it a deal killer for me.

Just installed the new (non-FM Modulated) IPOD adapter. The install took an hour total and while all my stations were wiped out this is by far one of the best adapters on the market. My S60R was direct wired as well and didn't offer the features you get on the Mopar unit -- browse by song, playlist, artist, etc -- as well you can use all the steering wheel controls.

I just installed the direct connect MOPAR iPod adapter, together with a KUDA custom mount and a DICE electronics dock. Works flawlessly on the MOPAR RAQ factory radio.

Do either of you have the IPOD Video? There have been reports of compatibility issues with this kit.

Mine is the 30G Video and no problems here.

Also a clarification on the issue previously reported, your stations for AM,FM, SAT are lost after install but once reset they hold.

I installed the Ipod INtegration on my CSRT8 a few weeks ago, and have it connected to my 60GB Ipod...I do have some issues with it...it seems to take a long time for the system to read it...(when I first plug in the Ipod...)...anyone have that issue? Is there a work around?
When it works, I love it...

I will check on the SAT channels being reset and holding...my does not seem to do that...but I have to mess with it a bit more...

I had my installed last week and have had a couple of issues with it.

Overall the sound quality is great but everytime I make a call it mode switches and I have to push the mode button a few times to get back to my ipod. Additionally, I may have screwed up when un plugging my ipod in, but now it is dead. It was plugged in for an entire week with no problems, I didconnected it for a flight, again no problems. When I plugged it back into the Jeep, dead. No light, no menus, no music

I just purchased a new 30 GB Ipod Video & it works perfectly with the MOPAR Ipod direct connect kit.

I know it's off subject but I wonder with the new MyGIG, you can just plug the Ipod directly into usb port on the radio and make it work.

No. MyGig reports the iPod as an "unrecognized usb device".

Using a memory stick and copying files from the HD works (I don't suggest converting anything you may have bought from iTMS, as the sound quality really gets bad). One caveat though, you have to rename the MP3 tags to include the track number in the song title. Otherwise MyGig orders songs alphabetically *only* in album/artist view. Dark of the Moon just doesn't sound the same when played alphabetically. ;)

What does the ipod adapter wire in to? I have the mopar rear seat video, I read on another board that the two devices may rely on the same input, and only one can be wired at a time.

Anybody know?

thanks, Matt

the hard wired I-Pod cable installed in my jeep and overall I love it. I have yet to activate my Sat radio, so I do not know about compatibility issues with the 2 but will report out on that once I finally get around to it. There are supposedly 2 Ipod kits that you can get and 1 had a little converter box with it and the other did not have it. The converter box allows the screen to display the full ipod info (track, name, artist etc), but supposedly the other one does not have the full interface cabability. It is a bit slow in doing things and yes it does mute the sound when it is scanning, but that just allows me a few seconds to listen to the exhaust purr before the music starts back up :D.

Will this work with an iPhone? Also where can I order one?

Thanks,

Well...I have the Mopar iPod integration kit, and I've had it in my WK for almost a year. When I first got it, I was only using it with my 80gb iPod Video (5G). Then, I got an iPhone when they came out, and it WAS working fine, until I upgraded the iPhone to the newest firmware a few weeks ago (v1.1.3). Since then, it will not work with the Mopar kit!

From what I've been able to discover, mostly through Peter at ************.com (http://www.************.com) (where I bought mine), and what he's found through emails with someone at Mopar is that the new firmware that Apple has released for the '6G' iPods (iPod Classic, iPod Video Nano, iPod Touch, and iPhone) IS NOT compatible with the Mopar kit (and many other third-party devices).

As of right now, there is not much Mopar can do for the current unit. Perhaps a newer unit from them might work in the future, but from what I understand, its more if a problem from Apple's side. They (Mopar et al) are hoping that the next software updates from Apple will fix it, but that is just a hope.

Fortunately, I still have and use my 5G iPod, so its not that big of deal for me. My girlfriend's new Nano won't work in my Jeep either, but it does work in here '04 Stratus R/T with a cheap integration kit I got from PepBoys. I thought about getting one of those kits for my Jeep, but they don't work with the new Chrysler radios.

Peripheral brand makes some nice kits, but I've heard they've had issues with the new iPods. A buddy of mine has an '04 Grand Cherokee with a Peripheral kit, and it was working with his 40gb iPod Photo (4G), but it doesn't work right with his new 80gb iPod Classic.

The only thing I could say about the Mopar kit is that it at least also has an auxillary input jack, so you could still plug your iPod/iPhone or any other device into that.

My fingers are crossed that they will fix this, soon, but I'm not holding my breath!

So, do you just loose all your presents ONCE or do you loose your presets EVERYTIME you switch modes?

I believe the IPOD kit is designed to sort of stay plugged in. So...once you plug it in, then re-set your presets, just leave the IPOD in the glove box. If you want one for on the go, just buy another cheap IPOD or vise versa (leave the cheap IPOD plugged in all the time). This solves the preset issue at least.

I personally plan to purchase the kit as soon as I finish some paint work I'm having done.

Thanks, the answer I was looking for. Not a problem, I have like 4 ipods. The ipod touch and the new nano are the only ones that wont work, right? Will my ipod video work?

Also, does the install just consist of pulling the dash apart and plug and play? I wired something like this up in my Infiniti, and it was plug and play and then I wired it into a 12V that was only hot when the car was on.

You lose all your Sirius presets everytime you plug your ipod in or everytime you switch to ipod mode. No way around it. The only other advice is to use the aux in but that takes away the screen controls on the REC. Not bad if you dont mind controlling the ipod itself. No steering wheel controls except sound (obviously). Everytime I get irritated about losing the Sirius channels, I realize its pretty cool to scroll through the playlists and songs on the REC. Then I get pissed again when I want to see my Sirius presets.

Sorry to dig up an old thread but.....

I was wondering if anyone with the kit has tried it again with the iPhone since the new software came out? I would probably use auxillary anyway (Pandora) but I hate to pay full price for something that only half works :D
