I picked mine up on Feb. 11 and have had only one problem. The airbag light comes on intermittently. I'm scheduled for an oil change next week & will have the dealer look at the problem. Otherwise it's been a great vehicle - and obviously a blast to drive.

The deposits are refundable so long as you don't take delivery of a vehicle. They can be negotiated since at the end of the day the dealer is still getting the same amount of money for the car. The only thing you need to weigh when placing a deposit, is the cost of the car, and whether you have faith the dealer will actually be able to deliver the car. With that being said, you could end up tying up money with one dealer while another has them on the lot.
I would not give the dealer a dollar until the price of the vehicle has been negotiated. I had three deposits going at the same time, and purchased from the dealer with the best deal and was refunded by the other two dealers. It is illegal for them to keep your money if they don't sell you a car. Oh, and the three deposits were all different amounts. I wasn't concerned since they were refundable. Hope this has helped.

I had to make a minimum non-refundable deposit of $1,000 although I am going to put down another 9,000 upon delivery. The non-refundable was a dealer rule. dont really know about the refundable part if you dont take delivery.

They might tell you non-refundable so you follow through with the transaction. It is clearly illegal if they keep your money without you making a purchase. Check with your state laws, you will be protected.

FWIW - I placed a "non-refundable" deposit at one dealership while I took delivery from another. The other dealership refunded my money within the week. Just as stated, it is illegal for them to keep money without making a sale.
