Street WK 01-05-2007, 05:37 AM WOW! nice ****ing ride my friend!
Would you sell the SRT8 Wheels and or HID kit?
omegaman 01-05-2007, 08:00 AM Very sharp - that's what I'm looking to do - did your painter give you any concern about painting the trim below the windows, on the front lower bumper and the strip on the rear bumper? I'm having some work done and my bodyshop/painter will paint those areas for me but is telling me that in a year, it's going to look bad because they're plastic and/or flexible. He's advising against it and its hard to argue with a pro.
Does any one have any thoughts? (I'm no trying to hijack the thread - just looking for input).
HoustonSRT-8 01-05-2007, 08:23 AM If he adds a flex agent to those pieces, then there won't be a problem. Other painted body pieces are plastic and they hold up just fine.
Ink Pump 01-05-2007, 08:46 AM Very Nice - looks better than the cayenne!
jawsk2 01-05-2007, 08:47 AM That is BADASS!!
jlandbl 01-05-2007, 08:55 AM Great looking ride!!
So you're running straight pipes after the resonator? How's it sound? Any drone? Any impact to performance?
Got pics from the rear?
That is gorgeous!!!
As for the trim painting, I had mine done many months ago, and it's all holding up just perfectly. I actually bought all new belt molding (under the windows) and door molding, and the frontand rear pieces. I then had the painted off the vehicle, then installed tem.
The rear side window belt molding is part of the window assembly though, and isn't available without purchasing the rear window iteself.
But as mentioned.... any body or paint guy worth a darn will know exactly how to prep and and paint it.
SRT-8RAT 01-05-2007, 09:26 AM Very Nice!!
Looks bad a$$!
kramsay1234 01-05-2007, 10:00 AM My thoughts exactly. That truck is Bad Ass! Total intimidation factor sitting beside that thing at a traffic light!

Kimono_skunk 01-05-2007, 11:15 AM Actually you can paint the flexible bumpers and such with a flex agent as was stated before. My brother had 3 70-72 GTO's andc Lemans' with the Endura front ends. And those were painted body colored also.
Your truck looks very good, and i'd like to hear how it sounds with the straight pipes.

split2112 01-05-2007, 12:18 PM renntech where are you from?
Clueless 01-05-2007, 12:26 PM Looks awesome! How 'bout more pics?!
Rick SRT 8 01-05-2007, 12:42 PM More pic's including the rear.
barho 01-05-2007, 01:25 PM Huh, I guess it's just me but I am not a big fan of the all blacked out look. I like the idea of painting the the door trim and front and rear areas of the bumper that are chrome black, but the wheels are just too much if you ask me, but to each his own. I do like the custom 22" Giovanis' that Randy has the the Project Sport Truck SRT though. Black with the chrome lip.
candyman 01-05-2007, 02:24 PM Looks a little too "Amish".
BuilderBill 01-05-2007, 04:03 PM Renntech,
Looks good. I am in the process of doing some blackout on my fresh ride.
A suggestion to others in the process: DO NOT buy the Lorado black trim and rear window, it is black rubber and looks like hell. I will do as ge2 and trade all this rubber stuff back in for the original plastic chrome and paint it.
I did not totally black out the factory wheels, but, painted the flat part of the spoke and small hubcap black. I lettered in the SRT on the flat spoke with a gray touch up pen and powdered coated Randy's billet side pieces with SRT8 hand lettered by a sign company. Oh and I copied ge2 on the drilled and slotted rotors with fresh pads from Zeckhausen. Nice!
jms935 01-05-2007, 06:08 PM BuilderBill, That is what I thought of doing with the wheels. I agree, to paint the entire wheel looks bad, but to highlight it would be pretty unique. Kinda' like the old Momo IDEA's. Could you please post some pics of the wheels?
OurZoo 01-05-2007, 10:15 PM Not my taste either, I like a little more chrome, something. Polished lip on those rims would definitely look niiice. Might I suggest tint on the front as well as rear lights. I think that would be stealth.
BuilderBill 01-06-2007, 07:07 AM JMS935,
Here are a couple of photos that show the painted wheels & slotted rotors.

Read his first post...

50% tint on front 2 windows and windshield
smoked rear lights, only the clear of the taillight is unpainted
fully debadged
Polished lips would look great....
jms935 01-06-2007, 01:30 PM BuilderBill, That was my exact idea. I was afraid to try it without seeing it first. They look awesome, my ride is red, just wondering if it would look as good on my car with red wheels. Thanks for the pics.
OurZoo 01-06-2007, 01:32 PM Doh! I did miss that and I'm sure it looks niice with the reverse cut out.
josephmartins 01-07-2007, 01:07 AM My thoughts exactly. That truck is Bad Ass! Total intimidation factor sitting beside that thing at a traffic light!
Evening all,
Net veteran, first-timer here on the Cherokee SRT8 forum.
One should never be intimidated by a vehicle at a traffic light. A black-robed SWAT team, guns drawn, busting through the bedroom door at 2am - that is cause for intimidation.
Having written that...an all black vehicle is the only way to fly. That is one sweet ride. I spent thousands doing the same to an older Grand not too long ago - blackened right down to the doorlocks and antenna mast. While it looked nice, there's no comparison. Your ride is bad, bad ass. It must be a load of fun to drive.
I keep telling myself someday.
does anyone know what the biggest possible wheels you can put on the jeep srt8 ? I heard 22", but you can now fit 24" on the chrysler 300c with a special tire. wanna see if i can fit 24" or 23"

could fit a 24 no problem with the tires now.
No special tire is needed. 24s fit on the SRT Cherokee just fine. A little big for my taste, on this mid-sized SUV, but they definitely fit just fine.
jawsk2 01-08-2007, 11:29 AM JMS935,
Here are a couple of photos that show the painted wheels & slotted rotors.
Bill
I wish someone would market the side pieces exactly as you've done them!!
They are PERFECTO!!
BuilderBill 01-08-2007, 12:20 PM jawsk2,
Actually not much work or expense to paint or powder coat. Maybe on the next batch that Randy runs, he could powder coat them black. Randy is most helpful and very timely on delivery.
Bill
hey builder bill, do u have a few full body shots of ur srt8? im thinking of doing a powder coat, untill i find some bigger wheels. I wanna decide on a full spray or like urs. thanx
BuilderBill 01-15-2007, 05:57 AM Bugz,
I will clean the Hemi up later today after a road trip this weekend and take some side photos.
On the road trip to Raleigh, it was a high to have everything from a new Corvette, Mustang and even a great looking white TBSS honk and give my wife and I the thumbs up to the Hemi!
Bill
renntech,
Can you post some night shots of your HID kit? And some details on which kits you used and from where?
Blown-WK 01-30-2007, 12:08 PM Renntech36 and myself are both from Jacksonville, FL
