Long story short, I had a good friend that was a contractor and he was supposed to do some work for me. He took $6000., did about $500. in work and never showed up to complete the job. Then he laughed when I asked him to give me the rest back. The whole story and his smiling face is now listed at -

I'd appreciate it if you can pass this to other boards that your on. Just take the info and run! I really want to spread the word here! Alot of the New England sites are going to be getting this info along with some of the local media. It's time for him to pay the piper... one way or another!

Thanks!

If I had a nickel for everytime a contractor has done stuff like this I'd be a billionare. It's to bad there are a few good ones somewhere. They're kind of like bodyshops. :(

Great story. We just bought a 1933 Georgian style English Colonial in the 'burbs of Westchester County, NY. We wanted to have two decks finished above two sun porches whereby two of the kids bedrooms can have walk-out porches. My wife (bless her heart) ran with this project and found a contracter on her own. I left the contactor with a $5k deposit upon a signed contact. His workers began work. Three days later, they are sitting around the house - work stopped. They complained to me that they were not getting their daily pay from their employer, my contactor. Ong story short - this guy just upped and vanished. All of his phone numbers and addresses were no longer valid. I took one of his guys with me and we went looking for him - to no avail. I ended up having these guys work directly for me and we bought the materials and I paid them to finish up the two decks. Great workers and I would have gotten a great deal had I not had to have the $5k lesson - bless my wife's heart!

OOOOps, my wife read the thread and took offense to my reply. So aside from the 420 stock HorsePower in the truck, she claims that her horse is quicker. As you can see, I CANT/WONT argue with her - bless her heart!

Good info. That sucks that we put faith in these people and they have us by the balls. Well, what goes around comes around, so this guy is definatly gonna get screwed. He's probably an alchoholic or drug addict. I know many contracters who have problems like this, and they do the same type of sh!t to people.

i'm in a similar line of work.. i do interior remodeling.. it's hard gaining the trust of clients because of the horror stories they've heard about contractors...
