: Mileage Breakthrough!!!
So I have had the SRT for 2 months now. Almost all of my driving is short stop and go commuting and I am only getting around 11-11.5 MPG (and that is driving fairly conservatively). So when I see posts from guys reporting averaging 15-16 MPG I wonder if something is up......
However, today, I finally got it out on the highway (about a 100 mile round trip) and, travelling mostly at around 70 MPH on cruise, I got 15.5 MPG!!! I was pumped.
I love this rig!
ROADRACINGSRT8 11-15-2008, 07:15 PM My commute is similar and I was getting between 11-11.5 until mods (headers, exhaust, tune, cai) and seems to have helped a little I am in tha 12's now. NOw if I could just get my 1/4 in the 12's
stevesvt 11-15-2008, 07:16 PM On my gauge, I usually average around 11. If I reset it and stay around town for a while, I stay in the 9s until the next time I go on a road trip.
I always have my foot in the gas though.
jim383 11-15-2008, 07:44 PM Since i got my cmr tune im getting 13.5-14.5 70/30% intown & freeway and on short trip on freeway say like 200 miles round trip i get 18.6 to 19 driving at 70-80 mph and my cmr tunes are on the conservity side with the A/F AT 12.2. I still havnt gone on a long freeway trip say like to LAS VEGAS witch is 360 miles 1 way.
Wholly crap, 19MPG?!?! That's awesome. I'm not overly concerned with MPG, just pumped to see that my vehicle is capable of what others are getting.
Stangfather 11-15-2008, 09:31 PM i normally get 13-14 in town and 17-19 on the highway..
Grip Grip 11-15-2008, 10:42 PM I think 15 MPG is GREAT! :D
nukemjk 11-16-2008, 07:42 AM Same here. In stop and go or to and from work I get 14-15. I just took a round trip from NY to SC and got all the way up to 19.5. Was usually 18-19 the whole way....doing about 70.
SkyeHighSRT8 11-16-2008, 12:29 PM I see 17.5 HWY most of the time and around 11-12 in town.
Not too shaby compared to other SUVs. I think the GCSRT8 just has a bad wrap in the MPG department.

i agree skye... think its the premium that takes it over the top a little.... i get 12.7-13.1 consistently....
i tell ya though i never remember premium and regular having such a discrepancy in price before... its like 50 cents difference around here... thats ridiculous
DevssrT 11-16-2008, 06:16 PM 11-12 around town...highway 15-17ish
Grip Grip 11-16-2008, 06:29 PM I just don't get how some of you guys are getting 17+ miles per gallon out of the Jeep. :( Do you guys cruise on the interstate at 65MPH?

I have had 3 CMR TUNES and that has made the differance and i drive 70-80 on the freeway.

+1
I keep reading over and over about folks getting 17-19mpg on the highway in these rigs but I can never muster up more than 15.5 at the VERY MOST cruising at 75mph. And that's on a long road trip with a full tank of 100% highway. Must be $hitty gas in KS or something.
qwk 8 11-16-2008, 10:54 PM i only have a cai and get 8 to 9mpg.

93 octane was getting 13.7 mpg's per tank, i don't know why but 89 octane gives me better gas mpgs. highway only, 70mph cruise control set. 45/B8 to B8/I10 houston guys know which highways

Did another 100 mile trip today (all highway); 70 MPH on cruise most of the time, got 15.1 MPG (91 Octane). Again, I'm not complaining; I think that's a decent number for this beast. I, too, can't imagine how some guys are getting up to 15 MPG in the city, though!
"Lucky" (Napoleon Dynamite).
rwboring 11-17-2008, 06:18 AM i dont know where you all are getting all this mileage... i took my jeep on a 860 mile road trip and got 15mpg... going between 75-80... using cruise... i guess i could still be breaking in a bit.... ive heard the 5.7's will get much better mileage after a few grand of miles..
Crookster777 11-17-2008, 06:48 AM I have a 5.7. Highway I get 13 mpg.
Tow/Haul, Esp Off, and Autostick FTMFW!! :D
