: Clueless parts dept?
HoustonSRT-8 01-04-2007, 08:47 AM So I dropped the GC off yesterday to have the tranny TSB done (of which they haven't reproduced the problem, so they haven't applied the update yet  ) and stopped by the parts department to see if I could get a Mopar catalog. I asked the counter guy for one and after giving me a lost look for a few minutes, directed me to the new car accessories booklets. I then tried to explain that I was looking for Mopar's aftermarket catalog and he had no clue what I was talking about. Does Mopar not put out a catalog like Ford's Performance Parts Catalog or was this guy I talked to just clueless?
NateO 01-04-2007, 09:04 AM Why not tell them problem or not, you want the updated AutoStick functionality... So... Stop trying to reproduce anything and flash the thing, all ready! ;)
How much time have they wasted testing this thing?
HoustonSRT-8 01-04-2007, 10:43 AM They called this morning and they've done the re-flash. :) They wasted 24 hours.
Now what about the catalog? :D
NateO 01-04-2007, 12:18 PM It took them 24 hours to perform a 1/2 hour, factory-issued, re-flash?!?! G.D.! Clueless is right!! That would really light a fire under my arse!
When I go in to have this done, in the near future, there'd better be a whole lot less talking/testing, and a whole lot more flashing going on! ;)
Not sure about the catalog... Anyone else?

That online BS doesn't list jack for our quick bricks.
WJ_Jeep 01-04-2007, 05:43 PM It's called the Mopar Performance catalog, it is still available. The last one I bought, I think was $5.00.

Nate, where in the TC will you go for your flash? Is there a dealership that you feel comfy with or would call the best in the area? Just curious - a guy in my area got his from Coon Rabbits, that wouldn't happen to be where you picked yours up at would it?
NateO 01-04-2007, 06:18 PM Hi Toast,
Coon Rabbits? LOl, it's Coon Rapids... :D
In any event, no, I don't know anything about them, and I don't get out there much... I'm taking it where I bought it, Park Chrysler Jeep, in Burnsville, MN:
http://www.parkchryslerjeep.com/
If you click on 'Company Info', it's got the key details, like location, hours etc...
I haven't talked to them yet, but will, soon and I really can't picture these guys saying no... I've called them about a smashed window and they had to clean up some shoddy work done by Goodyear to my wheels (which they did for free!), and they've given me nothing but A-1 service. I'm not sure if it's the best, but it's been great so far...
Besides, I simply can't understand why any dealer would walk away from my business over a 1/2 hour, factory-warrantied flash. That would be mind boggling... The numbers just don't add up!! And they won't be red-lining my Jeep at WOT, for any amount of time, to see if they can bounce it off the rev limiter! That's brain-numbing, too.
If you're considering making the trek, check out Service->Service Specials... ;)
I'll give them a call tomorrow and let you know, if you like. :)
NateO 01-04-2007, 06:39 PM I just got an unrelated email from their Service Manager, today:
We have appreciated your past patronage in 2006 and we look forward to serving all your automotive needs in 2007 and beyond.
{snip}
If they really want it, it's going to include one no-argument, no test-drive, tcm flash! One my current automotive needs!! ;)

Reproducing the ailment is standard protocol for DCX dealerships (whether the dealers follow this protocol is another point). If the problem cannot be reproduced, then the repairs will not be conducted (regardless of warranty), because completing unnecessary work is not responsible from an efficiency and fiscal viewpoint.
Since the flash is electronic and takes five minutes to install without intensive labor, dealerships should not be reluctant to provide it. However, there will always be those finicky dealerships that will leave you
NateO 01-04-2007, 07:02 PM I hear what you're saying, but it's 100% guaranteed to not upshift, eh? What's there to prove? It's going to bounce! They need to take my Jeep and bounce it off the rev-limiter to perform the tsb? That aint gonna happen. Protocol-schmotocol...
Have you had this flash performed, Jamie? :)

Nope, still waiting for the results to come in. One detriment is that some manual control is lost, e.g., the tranny will automatically upshift in manual mode if redline is reached. I view this as a detriment, because I would want my car to stay in gear no matter what in some situations, such as driving is a severe weather.
Right now, the benefits to outweigh the detriments, and I probably will get the flash within the next few months.
HoustonSRT-8 01-04-2007, 08:56 PM Update.....I LOVE THE NEW PROGRAMMING. That is all.
ToastR 01-04-2007, 09:22 PM Hi Toast,
Coon Rabbits? LOl, it's Coon Rapids... :D
Oops, Haha, slip of the fingers - I grew up in Roch. and friends of the family had a 2nd home in Grand Rapids and their daughter used to call it Gran Rabbits - It got to be a big joke and...... I keep forgetting :)
I'll give them a call tomorrow and let you know, if you like. :)
Thanks for offer - it looks like they got back to you and they sound very helpful and a pretty good dealership in general.
lvd2340 01-04-2007, 10:48 PM There is a Mopar Performance Parts catalog available from dealers for $5.00. I work at a Dodge dealer and had to recently order one for a customer and never received it. Even a call into Mopar and they could not tell me when i would see one. Maybe they are working on a newer one since the current one is for 2005. They have however sent handouts to dealers on newly released parts since that catalog went to print. Currently the only items that i see available from Mopar at this time for the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the Cat-Back Exhaust and the Cold Air Kit.
jlandbl 01-05-2007, 06:11 AM A 1 or 2 page summary of after market Mopar parts available for SRT vehicles was handed out at the end of the SRT Track Experience I attended in Nov. along with some other junk like your free SCCA membership, cheap SRT sticker and some advertisements. They called it a goodie bag, lol. Anyway, from what I recall you are correct, just the Mopar CB Exhaust and CAI were available for the GC SRT8. The only other Mopar parts I recall advertised was a Mopar lowering kit for the Charger.
ktek01 01-06-2007, 08:04 PM Blame Mopar for a lot of it, the listings suck and are scattered over different catalogs, ther is no one place to look for a complete listing. The performance parts catalog hasnt been updated since 05, Mopar really makes you hunt around to find out what they have. Most parts departments wont make the effort, here is one that has and is pretty good about putting them together on their website.

Sheri'SRT8 01-07-2007, 10:06 PM This place is really good as well:

I have ordered several items (like rear spoiler, locking lugs, other) and found them to be very competitive, and have excellent service.
