Well, I have my first Check Engine Light on my '06 GC SRT8. I believe it's self-inflicted though. I had to start up the engine cold and move the Jeep into the garage. I let it idle for a moment to get the oil pressure up before I shut it off.

When I started it up the next day, it acted like it was "loaded up" (flooded). It took a small bit longer to start, and ran rough for the first 15-20 seconds before the Hemi smoothed out. Then the CEL came on, but the Jeep is running fine. My question is: How many restarts does it take to clear the CEL if the condition that tripped the CEL is no longer occuring? (I am guessing it was caused by the brief mis-fire while starting). I guess I could try pulling the battery cable, but would rather not.

Thanks in advance!

Remove the Battery cable or try taking it to a Auto parts store I think they can read your code and maybe reset it.
Or find a auto shop that can do the same for maybe 49.99.
Just my 2 cents. at least if you take it to a shop besides the dealer they will tell you what code and then look it up your self for a honest answer.:)

Bummer!

How many miles on it?

Is it very cold where you live because there is a TSB about using different weight oil in cold climates. I'm not sure if this would trigger the CEL but maybe?

I suspect you will have to have the dealer read the code and reset it. Unfortunately that means going to the dealer

Good luck

Check to make sure your gas cap is tight. A loose cap will trigger the CEL. If this is it, a few short trips should reset it.

The TSB is for warmer temps & using 15w-50. The cold start/shutdown should not trigger a CEL, have it scanned.
