: 3" piping from the muffler back and no resonators
QBNKID 11-06-2008, 02:07 PM Is this something I can buy on line or do I have to go to a custom shop to get this done?
I'll be installing a Dynomax Ultraflow X muffler and from the muffler back I want to go 3" pipes as straight as possible with no resonators and with 5" rolled slant tips like the Borla-S.
This is the tip I have in mind...

The only thing is that the logo is embossed, but not sure if it'll be seen once is installed.
ajharman 11-06-2008, 02:15 PM This is exactly what I want to do but with magnaflow muffler. How hard really is it for a exhaust shop to fab up some pipe with a bend or two?
DevssrT 11-06-2008, 03:43 PM Hey Mario any decent muffler shop should be able to do this for you. If you want to go stainless though you might have to pick up the piping yourself.

There's really none around my area that I would trust.
I know about Mufflex in Trenton NJ but that's a little too far from me, I would need to take a day off from work just for that.
If anyone can recommend a nice muffler shop on the Hudson, Bergen or Union counties I'll appreciate that.
DevssrT 11-06-2008, 04:03 PM Can't help you there but if come across an American muffler they do too notch work. At least the one by me does.
mrfreeze 11-06-2008, 04:10 PM I have this done already on my rig..minus the 5" tips

:DThanks bro, that set up sounds bad-ass, I have always liked Flowmaster, actually I have a Flowmaster on my wife's Jeep and sounds mean as hell.
I got this Dynomax muffler free so I got to stick with it, plus it sounds great too.
I'll try to post pics and video of my new set up also.
Thanks!
Harrison@Stage6 11-06-2008, 09:49 PM just make sure they use mandrel bent piping and not bending the pipes themselves. Bent pipes are more restrictive. :(

Mario........ you've got Pro's and Con's in my book with those tips.
Pro..... they're 5" Slant cut
Pro..... they're 10" long so it will hide some custom piping
Con.... they're rolled edge with the hole in the bottom for condensation leakage. With a double walled, water pours right out.
Con.... They're 4" inlet and will have to have an adapter made.
Pro..... they're gonna look sweet as chit!!
Pro..... they're probably available NOW!
QBNKID 11-06-2008, 10:18 PM just make sure they use mandrel bent piping and not bending the pipes themselves. Bent pipes are more restrictive. :(That is the number one reason I'm looking for a damn good reputable shop.
I was even thinking of buying a Gibson cat back stainless steel system which is 3" in dia. mandrel bent and swap the muffler with my Dynomax and delete the resonators it comes with and use the 5" tips I have in mind. I can get the whole Gibson set up for around $450.
What do you think about that?

So 4 Pro vs. 2 Con
Hmmm...
I'm going to order them now :D
Harrison, I can't find a double walled 5" tip with a slant. Do you know of someone that carries them?
And I've been looking for an adapter to go from a 4" dia. inlet to the 3" dia. piping and can't find it either :(.
This is why I might have to end up at a custom exhaust shop no matter what.
Thanks bro!

enjoy!!!!What's cool is that she has raced her jeep at the track too :D.
Man... her jeep has more stuff done to it than my SRT has (but not nearly as fast :D).
Performance wise on her jeep, Superchips tuner, full 3" exhaust with the Flowmaster and free flow cat, Fastman ported 68.5 mm throttle body, AIRAID CAI, and front and rear Addco anti sway bars. Plus a lot of other misc non performance stuff.

Are you sure the Magnaflow system you have has a 3" pipes?
And did you look at the price of that tip...? man... the Flowmaster I'm looking at is half that price.
BTW, all the Magnaflow tips I've used so far have stained yellow even after trying to keep them clean at all times. That's why I'm staying away from Magnaflow tips this time.
But good luck if you decide to get them.
