: SRT/8 (modified) Charger, from the plant??

I really want to shut my cousin up. He has a Charger (no visible RT insignia's). He won't let me look under the hood. And, his seat backs have the SRT/8 embroided (like in our jeeps on the front seats). Yet, he tells me that this was the "3rd off of the line early this year" and it is a "supercharged" SRT/8 with 500 (plus) HP, proto-type - all stock. Now, I cannot tell if it is our 6.1L engine or not. He is "hinting" that it has the SRT/10 Viper engine even though the seat backs show SRT/8 and it is clearly a Charger body. He has done zero modifications to it. I will say that the car sounds awesome and can absolutley smoke tires with minimal effort. When his fat sicilian @ss comes to my house for dinner this New Years Day, afterwards he and I are scheduled to take a little run between his car and my 2006 SRT/8 GC. I just don't want to end up with manicotti all over my face after the run. DO ANY OF YOU ENTHUSIASTS HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT HE HAS SO THAT I CAN PREPARE MYSELF???

I think he is full of crap! He probably switched the seats for one. Who knows what he did to the engine? You'll kick his azz, no worries.

Agree, he's not being honest. Put a G on the line for the race, bet he backs off. Try to get someone to video it if you do race.

You could also ask one of the charger guys from www.*********** to confirm if they heard of it.

I don't really care what kind of engine he has in his Charger... Just run a 0-60 race and you're going to hole shot him every single time! :D

What an absolutely bogus story he has concocted. When he is not looking note the 8th digit of his VIN. If it is an "H" the factory engine would be the 5.7, which is most likely what he has.

What kind of person is this guy? Why does he feel the need to have to lie about his car? The fact that he won't let you look under the hood is proof that he is a compulsive liar.

HAHAHA... this thread is funny :D maybe the srt/8 logos were a mistake and he didn't mind it.. wasn't there another thread around here w/ a guy that bought a GCsrt/8 with "HEMI" logos on it? so maybe the case and he's just pulling ur leg

What a moron.

Oh & I have a 94 Mustang with an '03 Cobra motor in it. It came that way from the factory. I swear. It was a pre-modular test run.

3rd of the assembly line my AZZ!!! When you get a chance check his VIN. Here is what to look for:

- 10th character- Identifies the model year. For example: 1988(J), 1989(K), 1990(L), 1991(M), 1992(N), 1993(P), 1994(R), 1995(S), 1996(T),
1997(V), 1998(W), 1999(X), 2000(Y)------2001(1), 2002(2), 2003(3)

- 12th to 17th characters- Identifies the sequence of the vehicle for production as it rolled of the manufacturers assembly line.

I work for DCX and we did not build any supercharged Chargers.

UPDATE: We ran Monday afternoon. We found a stretch of parkway that was pretty empty that time of day. From a dead stop, he had no chance - yeah, he may of smoked his tires a bit, but was looking at my rear the whole time - approx 1/4 mile, by 2 1/2 cars. Also, from a 20 mph roll, he was left in the dust too. Needless to say, he was shut up real tight. They say you can pick your friends, but not your family!

I hate when people like lie that, especially family. Anyways, and nice kill!

Is it possible he ended up with a concept car?

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/new-mopar-hemi.html

In January 2003, the public saw the first supercharged Hemi engine ever officially produced by Chrysler. It produces 430 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque, using the 5.7 Hemi engine and a Whipple supercharger, and was first shown in the Dodge Magnum SRT-8 concept. The 300C version had "over 400 horsepower" and 350 lb-ft of torque.
They don't mention the Charger, but if they threw one in a Magnum and 300C, they might have thrown one in a few Chargers, too...

Edit: Well, not if it was built this year...

Highly unlikely. Concept cars are not road legal and most are destroyed after they've had their run.

Yeah, that's probably the case...

Here's a real supercharged Charger, and it's on with a modified GTO, in February:
