: Anyone replaced the Sirius antenna with an XM one?

Wondering if anyone has put in an after market HU that uses XM instead of Sirius. I see that the antenna for the Sirius is on the roof toward the rear. How difficult would it be to remove that one and put the XM antenna there? How is the antenna secured to the roof?

This is a very interesting question. I prefer XM as well and wish Jeep gave me a choice. Beyond changing the antenna, I wonder how XM would function with the Jeeps nav/interface software? I've got to think that any non-OEM swap would cause an unending myriad of compatibility problems.

This unit would work on other units, but it looks like the Nav units are not compatible.

I plan on ordering mine with the base stereo and then installing an aftermarket HU like the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 which will do both Sirius or XM. I am just curious how the factory antenna mounts to the vehicle.

If you wanted XM GM is what you wanted to buy! More and more manufactures are going to Sirius because they are growing faster then XM buy almost 3X's. And XM has no Stern!!!

I connected my xm into the ves inputs and it plays great. I will keep the free sirius until it runs out and then you can connect an AUX interface into the sat or ves portion, I will probably most likely drop the sat portion. As far as I can see so far XM content features more channels per format then the sirius unit but I am just getting around the dial. Plus no Opie and Anthony

Each side will have its followers and detractors and both started under the Harvard Business format of Co-petition, eventually either one will top the other or they will merge content and Spacecraft, Most of the commercial communications fleets are merging as we type.

Siri 3.45
XMSR 14.45
Both following the same slumping trendlines

The Sirius antenna is bolted to the roof, there is about a 3/4" hole in the roof underneath it with a bolt/clamp that holds it and a smaller locating hole that helps keep it straight. A double gasket surrounds the base to keep it water tight. Most add ons are just magnetic and would never seal that hole.

Are they any XM antennas that attach the same way the factory one does? Perhaps one could get the antenna off of a GM vehicle???

You can use the sirius ant I just did the swap from XM to Sirius in my SS and the factory XM ant work fine I can pick up all the stations .So i think you should be able to do just the same. SIRIUS to XM. but you loose STERN is it worht it:confused: Just my 2 cents

I recently went the other way...I've had XM for 2 years and never listen to talk radio. Personally, I find it sickingly boring. O&A...Stern...I could care less what they have to say and I find them terribly irritating.

I'm very happy with Sirius so far. I prefer Dance music/electronic/rock and Sirius has better choices.

XM no longer has a Jam Band channel, while Sirus has Jam On.

I'll stick with Sirius myself ;)

Being an EXPAT from UK Sirius has the soccer channel 125

I get all the match commentaries live which is great. It means I have to go for 90 minute drives every time there is a game on.:D I don't know if XM has a similar channel
