: Murdered guys come here!
ajharman 10-29-2008, 05:49 PM Thinking about going murdered style. I know I know there might be so many of them already but that is on this forum. Think about out of all the black srt8 jeeps out there. I would bet money on it being a small % of them.
I think a murder done right looks sooooo clean and sharp and sexy and think all the murdered trucks on here and great.
Anyway I think I might have daniel lined up for my side moldings. What about the back and front piece? do they come off or is it a matter of that black out tape.
About the tape, how does it hold up to washes, weather, etc?
THE RIMS....dont want to do the rims until I can get my hands on a cheap set. I want to eventually have a black winter set with winter tires (because we all know the jeep loves the cold weather, just not the salt) and have a chrome set with some veds or toyos.
Where, how, and at what price does powdercoating go?
Thanks to all you guys.
SkyeHighSRT8 10-29-2008, 06:08 PM the trimbrite tape holds up well, it's just a b!tch to get it on perfect.
powdercoated prices differ a lot.
Matt M, used black vinal to blackout his chrome and it looks really good. I saw it the other day.
Talking about % of murdered Jeeps, I've never seen another black SRT (except for matts) on the road, let alone a murdered one. Don't sweat it. I doubt I'll ever see another murdered on, unless it's on purpose.
ajharman 10-29-2008, 06:11 PM Thanks skye, that what im thinking. Ive only seen a hand full of jeeps only one being black also. The chances of not standing out in a crowd is 0. Ill talk to Matt about some of this. Thanks
eblade 10-29-2008, 06:24 PM the only one ive seen in person blacked out is mine :)
ajharman 10-29-2008, 06:26 PM what was your method of blacking out the trim and the front and back?
SkyeHighSRT8 10-29-2008, 06:30 PM My front and back chrome is painted black by daniel.
eblade 10-29-2008, 06:31 PM what was your method of blacking out the trim and the front and back?
they are painted but if its your DD i would not recommend it unless its done really good, my paint has some chips on the front bumper part. im thinking about doing them in vinyl seems like a better route to go. also the window trim was taken off a Laredo jeep
ajharman 10-29-2008, 06:37 PM oh take the trim off a laredo jeep is a good idea...hmmmmm thanks guys
SkyeHighSRT8 10-29-2008, 07:06 PM when I get a chance, I'm going to switch to the laredo black window trim also..
bankrman 10-29-2008, 09:11 PM when I get a chance, I'm going to switch to the laredo black window trim also..
You can only do the front two chrome door pieces from a Laredo. The little back chrome piece has to be done with the Trimbrite. It sounds fine...but everytime I look in my driver side mirror...i can see the difference in the black trims.
Not a big deal overall...just wish I could've changed out the whole thing with the Laredo.
HOJeepster 10-29-2008, 09:13 PM If you are going to do it make sure you do it right. Leave nothing but black.

mine is all from a larado? not sure how they did it you say it doesnt fit??
ajharman 10-29-2008, 10:24 PM I would do everything. The only thing I would have trouble doing is the exhaust tips.....
I might leave those because I want to have a chrome set of rims to roll with for the track...get some drag radials maybe.
Matt McKenzie 10-30-2008, 09:31 AM The black vinyl looks really good and holds up great when put on by a pro. Heat shrinked and everything. Plus, the benefit to using the vinyl, if you ever get tired of the blacked out look, you can always peel it off and go back to the chrome! On the front you will want to use a couple of layers due to rock chips, and I don't have any chips on my front from having it on over a year. Another thing, you can cover up the back piece completely and your back up sensors will still work perfectly! There is my imput Tony!
A3zrider 10-30-2008, 09:46 AM I know I've said it a bunch of times but this stuff looks great and matches the trim bright tape that I used on the windows. I paint the door moldings and the front and rear trim and it looks perfect. Super easy to apply and peals off really easy if you want to remove it or damage it. I got some sort of chemical on the front piece that damaged it and was able to peel it off in almost one piece. You can tape it off and spray it in 10 or 15 minutes.
