: My Dynomax Muffler Issue with a Happy Ending.
QBNKID 10-29-2008, 03:34 PM Some of you already know about the issue I've been having with the Dynomax muffler on my jeep, but for the ones that don't here it goes...
I bought my jeep with 5K miles and it already had a Dynomax muffler (17276) which it has a 2.50in In/Out and is not the one with the built in X pipe either.
But the issue I had with that muffler is that it seemed defective as it spits out fiberglass, so almost every time I drove the jeep I had to clean the back window from all the fiberglass. It was (is) very annoying.
So I emailed Dynomax tech support explaining the issue I'm having with it.
They emailed me back telling me that normally the warranty typically is for the original owner, however if I sent them a picture showing the muffler, the part number and my shipping address they would ship me a new unit.
I emailed them back giving them the information they requested and also suggested that the Ultraflow X (17554) with the 3" In/Out that includes the built in X pipe would be the muffler to be used originally on this jeep. So the lady emailed me back and told me that her engineer will be shipping me out today a Ultraflow X (17554).
I was very amazed with their customer service/tech support, it was a great experience dealing with Dynomax. And I thank them for honoring the warranty to me.
And I'm glad it worked out because I really liked the sound this Dynomax puts out.
I had other cars with Flowmasters and Magnaflows and I liked their sound too, but sometimes is nice to know you have a great sounding muffler and a company that stands behind its product.
Bottom line I recommend Dynomax for a great sounding muffler and and as a company for standing behind their products.
Here's a video/sound clip of the current Dynomax 17276 and a picture of it.
I'll post another vid and pic after I receive the new one.

Vinnysrt8 10-29-2008, 03:45 PM That good news .
DevssrT 10-29-2008, 04:04 PM Hey Mario that's awesome news! Do you have to return your orig muffler??
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 10-29-2008, 04:08 PM did someone say "happy ending"? lol....on a serious note, glad you got that taken care of and good to hear there are still some companies out there believing in customer service....on a side note, was i the only one that noticed those clear LED tails (like the ones Paul got) partially tinted? that looks kinda different.
Crookster777 10-29-2008, 04:16 PM Glad it worked out for you Mario.
larryc7777 10-29-2008, 06:08 PM You're gonna really like the sound of the UltraFlow X muffler. It will take a little work at the muffler shop to get it in(the distance between the inlet pipes is different from stock[unless you already handled that problem with the other Dynomax]). Are you running any resonators? I swapped out my stockers for a couple of Dynomax Race Magnum bullet mufflers(3" straight thru). O.D. on the bullets is 4". Then I bought some 4" inlet/5" outlet chromed stainless steel tips from Summit. They slip OVER the bullets & completely fill the rear facia opening. Slipping over the bullets makes it easy to get a perfect alignment on the tips. I also eliminated the S bend before the resonators. Now it looks more like the Zoomers system.
QBNKID 10-29-2008, 09:42 PM Hey thanks guys! ;)
Hey Mario that's awesome news! Do you have to return your orig muffler??Ryan, yeah bro, they are sending me a UPS call tag to return the other one so they can evaluate it.
Sorry bro.

Yeah that was Eric's (erh237) jeep with the aftermarket tail lights, they are not tinted.
Glad it worked out for you Mario. Thanks Joe!

Now that I don't have to spend the money on a muffler or an exhasut system, I'm thinking of replacing the stock tips with 5" tips from flowmaster that look just like the Borla tips, they are rolled and angled cut. so that's what I'll be doing next. I really like the sound without the resonators so I'm leaving it like that until I get bored of it.
Do you have any pictures or video/sound clips of your setup?
larryc7777 10-29-2008, 10:35 PM I had a web page with lots of pics on several of my vehicles but when Insight became Comcast, I lost my web page. I'll see if I can get a few pics on a Comcast personal web page. I haven't bothered to set one up yet.
DevssrT 10-30-2008, 07:02 PM No doubt Mario...I figured as much...again, happy to hear your getting a new muffler and the correct one for your rig!!
