: E85 Fuel in SRT8?

Does anyone know if the SRT8 can handle E85? Are there any SRT8 owners in the midwest that have used E85 in the SRT8? If any one has read anything or spoken to techs at SRT/ Jeep, I would be curious to hear the risks, problems... if any. Would be nice to know if this beast can arguably handle a more energy efficient fuel that my become more common in the future. Thanks!

It is not designed to run on E85.

Even the 5.7 isn't prepped for flexfuel yet. Check this list:

The 4.7 V8 is the only engine with the E-85 flex-fuel option in trucks, for the cars its the 2.7 V6.

From what I understand, when ethanol fuels first came out, the liquid would eat through the rubber and plastic components in the engine. Assuming car manufacturers don't use different materials to make their E85 machines (I guess you could check part numbers to figure this out), we may just need a chip upgrade and maybe a new sensor or two so the engine can keep the air/fuel ratio correct.

Of course, Chrysler would either have to do this themselves or release their firmware to another company. Neither of which seems like it will happen any time soon. There would need to be some sort of government tax credit for manufactures building retrofit kits, or something.
